Question Clutch/flywheel upgrade?

To the Tranny Gods,

I have an '02 WRX wagon which I autocross and have tracked once. I'm going to get my clutch/flywheel serviced under the "Cold Clutch Judder" TSB next week.

I was wondering if I should
a) get upgraded clutch/flywheel parts (how would that benefit me)
and
b) negotiate with the service manager to install the aftermarket parts instead of the Subaru parts and apply the labor allowance from the TSB to reduce/eliminate any labor cost.

I'm thinking this would be a great time to do this as the labor could be free.

I welcome ALL thoughts/opinions/flames.

Thanks,
Andrew

Dealer is not going to take responsibility for aftermarket deals. Just get the free warranty work w/out the heavier flywheel replacement.

Default UPDATE?

I had thought of doing the same thing. Did your dealer go for it?

Has anyone been able to convince their dealer to install aftermarket parts for a repair done under warranty?

Also, I originally had the clutch judder/shudder early on (during warranty period) and took it to the dealer at that time. This was before SOA issued the TSB, and the dealer said that it wasn't bad enough to warrant replacement.

Now, my WRX sedan has almost 60,000 miles on it. Am I SOL as far as getting any clutch work done under warranty? The initial visit to the dealer was documented.

Anybody have a similar experience?
