PWN3D What happens when a Powerbook G4 AC adapter blows up in your hand?

Mmm...yummy toasty flesh!

Apple. Awesome computers. Sucky power bricks. And you can't take them in the pool, either.

What the hell happened Sean? I used that little adapter on my iBook for about a day before I decided to put the cable piece on the end. I knew from the beginning that the brick would get a bit too warm for my tastes, and if I used the whole cord I could just unplug it that way.

OUCH

Wrap your hand in a blood-soaked rag before you go in.

Pity-warranty!

Dunno. I just grabbed the brick, unplugged it, and it popped in my hand. Click the link to read my rant. Between BugGirl and myself, this will be the fifth adapter we get replaced.

Yea, they've had a big problem with those adaptors, I talked to someone who had one catch fire on him...I'm surprised they haven't changed something in them.

I thought it was the yo-yo adapters that had the bigger problem

I'm not positive, I don't really use them ever. I'm just going off what I remember someone told me at 5am at a lan party...so my mind is probably slightly skewed.

Well, the story has been submitted to Slashdot and is currently sitting in the pending queue. It wasn't immediately deleted, so it looks like it will get posted eventually. I'm not going to approach Apple directly about compensation but, if this gets major press, Apple will probably end up contacting me.

Show them the picture and threaten a lawsuit, they will probably send you some free stuff.

Not saying sue them, unless you were truly injured, just scare them to get good stuff for free

for the 1,302,324,453,000 x 10^324 , macs are gay. They are the fashion oriented computer user.

Mac users who don't switch are kind of like the old commodore users at the commodore alamo not wanting to go to clones or macs

I honestly don't think mac would be around if apple hadn't supplied every school in america with apple IIe in the late 80s Brought up a generation on macs.

Let's not turn this into a Mac vs. PC flamefest. There are a hundred other debates going on in other threads. Besides, all operating systems suck; the operating system that one chooses just seems to suck less than all the others.

Sean wants to be Full_Clip

Again why I say I use the full cord attachment rather than the little flipdown prongs where the whole block plugs into the wall.

I don't think Apple would be around if it weren't for Mac OSX. I had never wanted a Mac until I got a chance to sit down and play around with OSX for a while.... then I went out and bought an iBook. I LOVE it.
