Default VF-34 or Sr-30

Which will make more power a VF34 or APS SR-30? Any major advantages of one over another, besides price? both are bb.

I cant find to much on these forums on the SR-30. from what i gathered, the SR-30 isnt as popular as the VF34, but im not sure if that answered my initial question.

from all the research i've done:

the sr-30 *may* spool faster then the vf34
the sr-30 *may* make more top end power then vf34

i think it will come down to the talent of the tuner. for almost double the price what vf34's are going for now. I don't think it's work it. plus did APS ever release a compressor map for the SR line?

Another thing to look at is the sr30 prone to boost creep like the vf34?

A lot of people have been talking about porting the vf34 to get rid of the boost creep. Seems like the sr30 may be a good choice if you don't have to worry about those things.

1) Finding somebody to do it and do it right
2) The price has just gone up with the additional work
3) Seems like some people still have problems with a
fully catless exhuaust.

Me too, I thought the 35 had a pretty bad creep problem.

some 34's have creep w/ a catless 3" TBE... even so you can pay 50-100 bucks to have your wastegate ported or do it yourself and you have a turbo that spools about the same and seems to make a little more top end (IMO)... for still less than half the price... the SR's may be good turbos but they're just to much money.

Honestly I haven't seen anything that impressive about the SR30.

The VF34...

Mmmmm

Have to check with PDXtuning but they rock some impressive numbers on those.

The SR30 is a nice street turbo. It comes on early and pulls well to red line. Then again the same can be said about the VF34. I had the SR30 for about 6 months before I wanted more. Now I have had the SR40 for about 2 months, and I am ready or more

If you are looking for real high numbers either one will fall short. If you are looking for a nice instant response turbo they both will give you that. I doubt you will notice any significant drivability difference between the two.

Bang for the buck, the VF has the advantage, if you want all out quality my choice is and was the SR30.

BTW I put down 300/300 at TC.com with a SR30 on 104 octane. I have a TurboXS stealthback with the cat in place, and a Prodrive muffler, and at the time a APS TMIC. That tune was not that aggressive, but the dyno reads, uhm, optomistically by about 30 HP over the more heartbreaker dynos.

Peg, what boost level were you running with the SR-30 on 104 octane? What boost was safe with 93 octane?
Thanks,
Steve.

I was running 17psi on 93 and 20 psi on 104. Both of those numbers are safe, I was not interested in blowing my motor so I asked the tuner to be safe. The car never knocked once when it was on the dyno.
