Default Is this damage bad?

I'm thinking about buying another set of WRX wheels to mount my Toyo RA-1 track tires on. One of the wheels that I'm looking at is really badly bent (see picture) but it supposedly balances fine.

What do you guys think? Is this safe?

It looks safe to me, but you can't see the inside or if there are any cracks. I would find another wheel and keep that for a spare.

if i could inspect the wheel without the tire mounted, would it be possible to ascertain if there was any significant damage?

It would have to be x-ray'd or have some other form of NDT done on it to be sure...when in doubt....use it as a spare

i've ran wheels that look worse than that... if you have no choice but to run w/ those... i would monitor your air pressure frequently.

but if you have a chance to get a spare... go w/ storm's idea.
