Post What's the fastest car (street or track) you've driven?

What do you say? Feel free to boast here people.
I've been lucky enough to try a BMW 850csi, toyota sports racer, and a Carrera 2.

Probably a 300ZX TT with a Stillen Stage V full kit, 480hp to the wheels. Not the most maneuverable, but probably the fastest. Only took it up to 80 or so though, but got there in a hurry.

The fastest I've ever gone at the wheel was approx. 155mph on the Autobahn at the wheel of a Peugeot 406 Coupe V6. Hell of a sweet car, as you can see.

I used to work as a detailer at a Ferrari dealer in high school and some of college. Was required to drive 512 TRs, 355s, etc. I still miss that job...

Probably my '88 Subaru Justy GL. With such a lightweight chassis, three cylinders, and a strong tailwind, that car had killer speed when going downhill.

I made Ford Festiva and Geo Metro drivers jealous on a regular basis.

Several cars were fun. I have to agree, 850Csi, first time I ever broke 100MPH in a car, hit 130 and I freaked, on a straightaway. I've been in an EB110, cruised up and down my street. Also an A/C Schnitzer 5 series. My favorite was the turbo RUF. Although I stalled it three times, and never got it out of second. But it was fun.

On a road trip, cross country, summer before my senior year of high school. My friend and I were driving all night from Indianapolis to Boulder. I hit 125 in the middle of the night in Kansas in my dad's '91 Turbo Legacy Sports Sedan; the hood started to vibrate, so I eased off after a few seconds. That was back in '94, when it only had 125K miles on it. Now it has 360K miles, but still drives great! It will be a sad day when that car leaves us.

On that trip, my friend also managed to do a 270 exiting the highway at 80mph. I don't know how I survived my teen years.

I haven't driven any real high performance cars in the past...but I have to say driving a 1972 MG Midget at 85 mph on the freeway sure feels like I was in...er...something...that was going AWFULLY fast!

However, my claim to fame is taking a ride (actually sitting on the side of) an 1970's era Indy Car (a Chevy I believe...V-8...roughly 1000 hp on tap, all black...friend of the family has a garage at Sears Point and races-restores classic racing cars...he even went to Indy for the F1 race and drove the course in one of the pre-races...he is a God ). Anyway, after taking me down to the pits in that machine he proceded to win his race...as well as lap the second place car (a 427 Cobra BTW).

I just realized I bragged about someone else! D'oh!

I drove in this modified Citroen.

I don't remember the model, but it had a front reverse-mounted Mazarati engine, i.e. the face of motor pointed towards the cabin and its rear along with the tranny pointed towards the front [don't ask me how they pulled that one off].
It had headlights that turned as the steering turned... really cool.

The thing sounded like an angry tractor. Anyway I managed to bring us over 250 KPH (over 150mph), in what seemed like no time (the owner was with me of course). I was 21 and up until then the fastest I had ever gone in any car was about 120 MPH. I was scared as all hell. I've'd never experienced anything that fast but the bug had bitten.

Fastest Car: Porsche 944 turbo, chipped, lowered, and some other little things.

Fastest I've been: Unknown, but I would probably have to say about 120 on the track on my Buell. Motorcycle that is. The speedometer wasn't working, so it's just a guess. Too bad it was pouring, I could've gone faster.

I used to work at a Porsche/Audi/VW/Lotus dealer for a few years in the summer and on vacations while I was in college. My deal with the boss was work a full week and saturday mornings and any of the used cars were mine to drive on Sat afternoon. Loved taking 911 turbos out, fastest I ever took a 911 up to was an indicated 137. Drove a few Ferraris, 246 Dinos, 512 BB and a Testarossa. Then there were the slant nose 911s which were so cool back then. I like the classic so much better now.

The Lotus Esprit turbos used to be so exotic. They got 230h.p. out of their 2.0 turbo four-bangers now the WRX is going to match that and not fall apart every three seconds lite the Lotus. Although the Lotus' were so tight, mid-engine and RWD it handled awesome.

While taking some time off during college I also worked at a MB/Rolls/Bentley/SAAB dealer and those Bentley turbos were so much fun. At a stop light you'd brake hold them a little to build boost and when green hit stomp the gas. It'd pause, take a breath, then whoosh, dig in and accelerate all 5000lbs. faster than a car that heavy should go.

Sorry for rambling but I enjoyed the memories.
