I was wondering if anybody is using a silencer by-pass like what dynamispeed sells??
It is made for the WRX but I assume it will work on the FXT Ben, Like this, $40 shipped, its worth a shot.

For the Forester XT in particular I'm not sure of the advantage. I've taken temps around the motor compartment and it's warm even behind the headlamp where you will still be drawing air. The WRX has the intake over the radiator support. I say just remove the silencer and plug the fender hole. Some of the restriction will be reduced an you will get cool air. Cool air on a turbo may not be as big a deal as an NA motor but can't hurt

I like that aluminum velocity stack mod the one poster did, very clean looking compared to the PVC "intakes".

Performance wise I expect nil. I just want a bit more noise, but at the same time keep it stock "looking" under the hood.Once I get the PPP I'm going to sell the Prodrive Y-pipe and get a black Samco one instead.

Have you found a Y pipe that fits? I got one imported from the 99 WRX but it didn't fit. Which one did you find that worked, that's something I really want to change out.
FWIW removing the silencer I can sometimes here the recirc valve open. With the plug in the fender it looks stock (sort of) |

i have this on my wrx. i couldn't feel a difference. the intake noise didn't get any louder either with the removal of the resonator. but i'm getting a kingpin ecutek reflash and they told me the resonator had to go so i'll know more once i get the ecu in (whenever that will be...)
