Default Anybody using an silencer by-pass yet??

I was wondering if anybody is using a silencer by-pass like what dynamispeed sells??

It is made for the WRX but I assume it will work on the FXT

Ben,

Like this, $40 shipped,its worth a shot.

For the Forester XT in particular I'm not sure of the advantage. I've taken temps around the motor compartment and it's warm even behind the headlamp where you will still be drawing air. The WRX has the intake over the radiator support. I say just remove the silencer and plug the fender hole. Some of the restriction will be reduced an you will get cool air. Cool air on a turbo may not be as big a deal as an NA motor but can't hurt

Cobb validated Peaty's perspective on CAI - not necessary - just open up the stock airbox and save yourself some money. He said they have dyno results to prove it. They dyno'd three aftermarket CAI's (didn't say which) and they do not flow as consistently as the stock airbox, thereby causing MAF to behave erratic through the curve. This might be okay for some, he said, but with the XT, Cobb's goal is mega hp increase without any glitches, flat spots, huffs, etc. (that weren't their before the mod's, of course).
that was from here:

I did this to the airbox to open it up more into the fender:

I like that aluminum velocity stack mod the one poster did, very clean looking compared to the PVC "intakes".

Performance wise I expect nil. I just want a bit more noise, but at the same time keep it stock "looking" under the hood.Once I get the PPP I'm going to sell the Prodrive Y-pipe and get a black Samco one instead.

Have you found a Y pipe that fits? I got one imported from the 99 WRX but it didn't fit. Which one did you find that worked, that's something I really want to change out.

FWIW removing the silencer I can sometimes here the recirc valve open. With the plug in the fender it looks stock (sort of)
