Angry Rattles!

Anyone else hearing mysterious rattles and buzzing from interior? Just about once a week I hear a new noise that drives me nuts!

I know one of the noises is coming from glove box latch. The other noises are kind of a buzzing noise coming from armrest on door maybe. Hard to pinpoint. I'll have to sit in back and let some one else drive while I locate noise.

I had a buzz, turned out it was the privacy screen in the back, adjusted it slightly and it stopped.

I have 8K miles and I have a rattle which seems to be transmitted from the door panel armrest. In addition my seat creeks and moans when I hit bumps and takes turns, it is driving me nuts. Ofcourse I have not had time to take it to the dealer. When I drop it off, they are gonna keep it until it is fixed, I am not gonna except any excuses such as "we cannot duplicate the noise" or that it is normal.

I have a buzzing coming from the trim plate around the stereo and climate controls. When I apply a little pressure to it it stops. Other than that I haven't noticed any other rattle or buzzes, except for my tools tucked away in the storage tray in the back.

My only complaint is the "wind noise" when driving on the highway. It usually starts around 80mph.....drop to 79 and it goes away. Im assuming it is from the rack on top of the car. I dont hear anything else, but I am practically deaf in one ear. The wind noise is enough to potentially cause me to go insane.

Default Win noise

rhino738 - have you tried to move the roof rack forward or back a couple of inches to see how that affects the wind noise?

I've got 13k on mine with the small driver armrest rattle, the center dash storage compartment buzz, and a intermittently harsh squawking noise that I've learned to ignore...turned out to be my wife.

I don't trust my dealer, so I'm going to try fixing the door buzz this week. It seems to go away when I press down on the plastic window control and lock panel. Will post if I find a good fix. The hinges on the dash hatch just needed some lube, and then they just disappeared!

Oh yeah, the wind noise from the crossbars does go down if you move the front one back a bit.

Thanks for the advice fellas. It's much easier to fix the noise than it is to drive slower . Thanks again.

Just passed 1000 miles and so far just a few buzzes. I've also got a small drivers door buzz. Haven't figured out where that is coming from yet, though not from the armrest. When it's chilly in the morning the cargo screen rattles a bit in back, but that's just because the holding pockets are not all that tight to begin with. Still it's so much better than my trusty old Legacy that I'm not too picky!

I had two different wind noise problems. First was the Yakima bike rack, which was solved with their Windjammer #01115. A wing shaped part that fits on the front cross member. The second is still there at 70 plus and comes from the lower part of the side front window. If you put pressure on the rubber molding the noise goes away. I think the molding needs more pressure to make a better seal.

the wind noise coming from the lower front part of the front windows is from the mirror gusset... the rubber seal around the side view mirrors that the window rolls up in to.

to fix, roll the window all the way down and you should notice a large gap in the gusset. squeeze it together until the gap is very small then roll the window back up. wind noise should be gone.
