Question CEL went on and then off again

Last Saturday the CEL in my WRX came on. I was in upstate NY on the way to Ottawa so I couldn't get it checked right away. I did check the gas cap but it was tight. A few days later, after driving the car a few times, the light didn't go on when I started the car.

Should I take it in or just forget about it?

Most Autozones/Discount auto's can pull codes...it is stored until it is cleared...It is probably minor, but having it checked would let you know if it re-occurs.

Cycling the power (key on/off) clears CEL's if the original problem is gone for the time being.

The ECU can still store the code though, so get it checked for stored and possibly pending codes.

If you're still in Ottawa... I could check it.... It should still be in the computer...... probably a misfire....

I have one lately like that and it the rear O2 sensor (P0136)... I need to change it.

if it's not a major thing, the ecu will just store the information until it is cleared. after 30 key cycles, the light will just go off, but he code and possibly the problem, could still be there. but if it was a fluke, the code will erase itself after 80 key cycles.

Thanks, but I'm back "home" (DC). I'm just going to forget about it until I need to go in for something else.
