Cool It's a GIRL !... the impreza's gonna wait

well here it is...
my first vehicule in NZ, i bought it yesterday and got it today at noon...

the pic is really bad because it was raining so i just took it from the window of my office, but as soon as the sun comes out again i'll have some sexy shots of my Naked bike...

for those of you who don'tknow what it is...

it's Triumph Speed Triple
the Street-Fighter version of the Triumph Daytona
955cc straight three with fully programmable fuel injection...

it's beast, i've wanted one for 4 years, and it's my first new bike...

i need to decide on a name for her, as i always name my rides

i was thinking Sandy... it really sounds NASTY

anyway, here she is

Oh.. I've been looking at those.

that's a 99' isn't it..?

the 2000's over here have what looks like to be a small fairing over the headlights.. I'm not too crazy about it..

I'm in the market for a second bike.. Pretty sure I'll end up with a 929.. but who knows..

my only fear with the triumphs is reliability issues....

let me know how it works out, who knows.. I might end up with one too...

A friend has a 96 Speed Triple - the old style - and has over 30k on it. The only problems I know of were the tach broke a couple times, replaced under warranty, & Triumph doesn't buy instruments from that company any more.

Triumph has a good reputation for standing behind their product - they have to overcome the memories of the junk they were trying to sell when they went under 20 years ago. Of course it all depends on your dealer, get a bad one and they can screw up anything.

well no it isn't a 99 it a brand new 2000

and the little fairing thingie you saw is an option...

there are two different models:

-the Cockpit, with the day-time running light form the Daytona

-the Fly-Screen, which only covers the instruments

i will not be putting any of these because i'm not keeping the twin headlamps, i will by switching to the Ducati Monstro single headlamp that clamps on the forks with it's respective carbon fiber deflector

Oh yeah.. I've seen them in the flesh..
I've been only a breath away from buying one for quite a while now..

I happen to like the green on that bike..

It's all a matter of taste..

alot of people wouldn't even think of getting a naked sport bike (street fighter)..

they are exactly my style though..

This is mine..

yep..
riders like us are getting rare..
as nice as CBR's are.. there are too many!

and too many squids cruising around on them..

Though, I am looking to pick up a 929 or the 01' CBR 600 (F5?) next year..
I can deal with a "sport" bike about 50% of the time.. the other I need my naked bike..

I love my bike.. I've only seen one other on the road.. really rare bike. 1991 Kawasaki Zypher 750. I'll just have two bikes.. heh.

But the 929's are really fun.. my brother has a 00' yellow and black. ridden it here and there.. the power/acceleration is insane..

-BUT-
keep me updated as to how your bike works out. who knows could be a triple in my future.

I ride 10K+ a year.. need something that won't give me any problems.

Kawasaki's and Hondas are bulletproof in my experince.

be nice to her ownly.... triumphs have a reputation for really bad realiablity. My friend owns two, a trophy (which has been replaced under lemon law) and a thunderbird sport (which has seen the shop way too many times). But I havent seen the sped triple fail yet, so your good there. Either way, congrats and keep the rubber side down, shiney side up!.

Really cool bike, ownly. One of my favorites! I recently got a nekkid bike too. A 2000 red Suzuki SV650. Since then I realized that if you really want to go fast, forget about cars, get a bike. Even a "cheap" one will do 0-60 in 3.2 seconds.

SV 650.. nice.. love the engine on those..

yep.. cheap bikes are still scarey fast..

On a multiple (stupid) occasions I've had bikes exceeding 150 MPH...

before I get yelled at.. i know it was dumb and would never suggest it to anyone, it's just part of my personality to push things..

but like I was saying.. 1991 kawi 750.. still able to do 150.. and I only paid 2.5K for it a year ago..

bikes = cheap speed

but you give up alot for it, mainly safetly..

so please ride smart, I do about 98% of the time.. but I am sure it will be that 2% that bites me one day...

Hehey Fishguy,

the 929 was my first choice before i got here but i've been wanting a Triple for as long as i can remember so when i saw her in the showroom on her pedestal.... it was love at first sight, i smiled at her and she smiled right back... that's when i saw the devil in her eyes
i took her home and the rest is history

btw CBR600's don't go up a generation each year, the '01 will still be an F4, a generation lasts between 3 to 4 years... (i've had more than one CBR600)

and yes my Sandy was Tom Cruise's co-star in MI-2 and she was hella sexy in that black dress

funny you should mention the SV650 Jeremy 'cuz that's the bike i was going to buy the day i got Sandy... but the freindly lads at Shaft Motorcycles made me a deal i couldn't refuse so i took it...
you know what though, on the SV650 you HAVE to put a dual high-pipe exhaust system... much like a TL1000 R it sounds sooooo crazy that V-Twin... you swar it was Duke Monstro

today i bought a new helmet too... Carl Fogarty's Shark RSV... not the Foggy signature model but tha same helmet...

i'll post some new pics soon

cheers

ok, by popular demand, here are some pics of Sandy... she's a little dirty, i was just too tired to give her a shower after riding her all day...

now i know there are alot of shots of the same things, i'm just way to lazy to do anything about it tonight...

Usually they change generation ever two years..

99-00 were the F4.. so 01 should become the F5.

there is also rumor that in 01 there might be a differnt "trim level" on the CBR's.. lighter than the normal one and offer Fuel injection.. but nothing confirmed..

my brother spends too much time on CBR mailing lists.. that where I heard that

Yeah, the EFI is a strong reason, along with the digital dash, why I would get a 929..

it's a really nicely finished off bike..

it's sharp Samorai blade

that bike is insane...

in January if i don't buy a 22B i want to get a Superbike for weekends etc...

three choices come to mind...
-996
-929
-RC51

i might get the Duke since it will really be just as a toy and i wouldn't mind the undrivability of it
