Unhappy Anyone got a cheap paint job?

I currently have around 13k on my '04 FXT and the front end is nicked all to hell! Also along the rocker panels, the paint looks like it's been sand-blasted by road debris. So far, I've taken several trips to the Sierras to go skiing as well as a roadtrip to the midwest in the winter, but most of it is city driving. Yes, I know road salt and sand kicked up from trucks will nick anything, but this is a bit ridiculous. I just can't believe how thin my paint is! I'm going to have to repaint in about a year at this rate.

Is this me, or is anyone else encountering this paper-thin paint phenomenon?

So I take it from your sarcasm that this is an isolated case?

I've heard this is an issue industry wide, and not limited to a single car manufacturer or plant. The easy-to-chip-paint-issue has been posted in multiple automobile forums.

From what I've heard/read, modern day factory automobile paint is a bit more prone to chipping. The paint apparently has been changed over the years to become more environmentally friendly.

Good for the environment, not as good for the beauty of the car. Oh well.

This is why I like the unpainted cladding of my "L" trim Forester. A little wipe with armor-all and it looks brand new...

And yeah, it's paper thin, my dog scratched the heck of of one of my doors in mere seconds. Clear down to the primer.
