Post What's the difference between the Subaru shop manual and the other kind?

What's the difference between a genuine Subaru Shop manual and the Hanes manual that I can find at my local library for FREE? Oh, and this is for MY'95 Impreza. Where can I get a Subaru shop manual?

The manuals are available from the dealership, just like you can get an oil filter. I'd say the big difference is that the people who make the book are the people who make the car and know it in and out. Plus the parts numbers and stuff- it's kinda like an autobiography (no pun with the auto part) vs. a biography... nobody knows you better than you, and nobody knows Subaru better than Subaru (maybe except for Prodrive.....)

The Subaru shop manualS are complete with every dimension in the car. They are almost like an instruction book on building one. Alright maybe not that far, but they are written by the people that build the car. I can't comment about the '95 set as I have the MY00 set. There are 8 books in the set. Sure, they're more expensive but have great pics and half decent explanations.

The Haynes manual is written by some guy that Haynes gave an Impreza too and said "take her apart and record what you find"

I don't know who you'd rather trust: Subaru vs some guy having fun, but I'd rather trust Subaru.

Besides, Haynes doesn't include the RS in ANY of their manuals. It's not profitable enough for them too.

I just bought the shop manuals for my 99 RS and paid $800 for them. But according to Scott at Subaruparts.com it consists of more than 11 books and is the most valuable thing I can buy for my Ru'.

I can't wait until I get them Friday

Do you folks have the part numbers for those manuals? I'd like to add that to the list if you do... http://members.xoom.com/northursalia...arts/parts.htm
