Damn looks like that car got hit in the side. I hope the engine didn't get damaged also. Now all you have to do is find a shop to figure out the wiring harness to do the swap and send the ecu away to have it reprogrammed for the US 92 or 94 octane.

Yeah, I know a shop in downtown Victoria that can do it for me. Apparantly the engine was a little damaged but only a couple broken hoses and a bent manifold (I think that's what the guy said, very asian). But they repaired it all. I totally forgot about the ECU. I have no idea how that's gonna work. Only time will tell

EDIT - It cost me $3350 US + Shipping. (My parents are very trusting people, they gave me half the cash).

TNT Racing could probably sort it out for you. I think they were the shop in Canada that had posted that they could do the swap including the ecu and wiring harness. Since you already have the engine it might save you some cash to just let them do the install.

Thats killer, but wasn't someone selling a EJ20 in the classifieds from somewhere in the UK for like 2K?????

From what it says, you get everything,

"1. Parts required (or not required,), (if you require other parts than the engine, accesories, ECU, transmission, ex.manifold, which is included in the price.)"

A new transmission always helps...

I hope you are getting the Front crossmember and swaybar as well as the N/A versions aren't compatible with the EJ20 headers and up pipe. They go over the crossmember not under it.

22b_wannabe: There's a shop in Vancouver here that is finishing up an EJ20 swap. You might want to contact them...shop's name is Tekam. They're in Burnaby. Congrats on the acquisition of a wonderful engine, but have you read the post in the Canada forum bout aircare?

Thumbs up

That is so cool! I didn't think that they were that cheap with only minor damage(I'd replace the manifols with headers anyway). That's gonna make for a fast car! Too bad it could never meet U.S. emissions standards. Oh well. At least somebody's lookin' after Earth. There's always the U.S. turbo engines that will be in the junkyard sooner or later.

OK, I always thought only those 22b get red colour engines. And that picture has a red ebgine on a blue car.... can it be possible you just picked up an EJ22?!
anyhow where's the intercooler? and what with that dangling thing across the block?
Actually where's the turbo and it's plumbing?

Actually, TNT Racing built the McGreers rally car (for those of you who know the canadian rally circuit). If anyone could do the swap for you, it would be them.

Yeah, but they're in toronto, he's in vancouver. I doubt you cali guys would drive to new york to have your car done eh?

Besides, the mechanic for TNT, vIII on this board is up to his ears in work, (so I'm told). And it's not always so simple.

Be sure to check for engine damage.

Howdy..

The red inlet manifold is common on all STI's... kike a trade mark

The 22B has a red cam belt cover... everything else is black.

That thing on the engine is the power steering cooler... a ****e one at that.. it normally goes in front of the radiator...across the top beam.

Cool

Apparantly they had to remove a bunch of stuff to repair the engine when they first got it. The guy assured me it was all there though. But some of it will have to be put back together here to avoid damage when it comes across.

I'll have to give this 'Tekam' a call, see what they'd charge. And Andy who?

Here - take a look...

Only differance I see is that there's a little red thing on the left of the 22B, I can't tell what it is but that's not on the EJ20.

Hi there,

The picture of the 22B engine is flipped over...

The battery should be on the right hand side...

You can see the top corner of the red plastic cam cover.. the only other red bit on the left of that picture is the battery terminal cover.

There is a shop in Colchester Vermont, USA (I know, it is a long way from Vancouver, BC) that has done a lot of work converting US spec Imprezas into STi v4, v5 engine/drivetrains. Their name is Vermont Sportscar and they also build championship winning (rally) cars. They can be found on the web at http://www.vtcar.com/.
