Question New Headlight Hypothesis

Here's an idea...

What if the oval headlights seen on the dock photos are for the Japanese domestic market, while NA is due for a different type? If you look at the Nurburgring photos closely, it is obvious that the car is the same as the one on the dock, it even includes the hood indentation, but if you look at the headlight profiles, there is no way that the oval lights could fit in the spaces on that car. It looks like the whole area within the body seams around the lights on the dock Impreza is used for headlight, and the area where the top of the oval headlight would be is simply hood sheetmetal.

The black car on top could be a test mule, where they graft parts of the new car onto the current one.

The black mule just had the ovoid headlights cleverly disguised. Look at this: http://ruff.cs.jmu.edu/~panda/impreza/

You guys notice the rims in the spypic are the same as the dock pics? I just noticed. As for the lights, I don't know really, the
Nurburgring car has pieces of sheet metal tacked on all over it so if the lights are not as high as they seem then those could be the round ones too.

I was compairing the picts earlier and thought that what they might done was slap an older hood on the newer car and bent the cornes of the hood over the new head lights...

additional supporting is that the black one has a larger hood scoop than the dock photo.. i think

Either it's a different hood altogether, or they added to the top near the quarter panels to raise the hood enough to disguise the ovoid lights. The rounded ridges on the sides of the hood look tall enough to conceal the headlights.

But why go through all that trouble to disguise the fact that the new Impreza will have oval lights? Are they ashamed, or just smart enough to know how many fans they'll be upsetting?

They hide it because they dont want other companies to know about any of their styling cues and also, if it had awesome performance, they dont want other companies to know about it.
