WOW, any sound clips. How much of a difference does the removable silencer make. Looking for a complete exhaust for my Wagon but don't want all the noise for the trips with the family.

Ran Jr - The removable silencer makes the world of difference as we all know the WRX is loud . With the silencer, the car is not much louder than stock. I just drove 12 hours form SF to Mammoth Lakes, and the only real cabin noise, even on extended uphill climbs, is that of the turbo (I removed the intake resonator) and the road noise from the tires.

Enigma76 - Not that we know of, although I will mention a twin tip setup when we meet with Helix Japan in Tokyo next week!

Thanks!!

was your 12 hour trip With or without the silencer? like... in loudness what does this exhaust compare to?

i'd like to find something Greddy'ish, but not quite Blitz'ish. (especially being catless already. ) i had the blitz before, it sounded great! but it was just a tad overwhelming at times.

i think it looks great, but, eeks on the sound...
please don't be loud, please don't be loud... *crossing fingers*

Hi!

Stardog & Champion - Sorry! This particular exhaust system is designed for maximum power and thus cannot include a twin chamber/twin tip design. We will however discuss with Helix about possibly producing a twin tip version next week

Estiem - My trip was made with the silencer on. Because of my setup, (manifold, uppipe, vf34, downpipe, exhaust) without the silencer the car is quite loud especially under full throttle conditions. I believe it is extremely difficult to dampen the sound on a high flow system such as this, the only real solution is to continue adding resonators (like Greddy) which will ultimately sacrifice horsepower. For this reason, I run with the silencer on most of the time and remove it for track events, etc.

Thanks,

Gary

Hopefully not hijacking the thread, and maybe something else to ask helix.

I understand what you are saying about the straight through design requiring a single tip...but why must the tip be larter than the pipe itself? 77mm in, 77mm out seems reasonable to me. Maybe that's just not a popular option.

How does the removable silencer mount in the exhaust and what keeps it from coming out? Is it fairly easy to put in and remove?

Also, how long is this price good for?

Will you be selling the resonator section by itself? Already have Helix UP/DP and Prodrive muffler ... would like to find the resonator section to complete everything if possible ...

RAN JR, the removable silencer can be mounted in the exhaust tip w/ a bolt screw provided by Helix. very easy to install.

Bliu, sorry.. the resonator is part of complete package.

Also, what is the price for the Helix 30+ AWHP Package installed?

Well it looks like it's cocked based on the pictures xjohnx found. Either that, or my eyes are worse than I thought.

Kind of a bummer, I'd really prefer one that shows straight out.

Hi!

FryRice - Here in California fix-it tickets are based on the officer's descrition, however with the silencer this system will definately conform to the 95 decibel limits for exhaust systems

Pjdwrx - Yes, the system is angled slighty towards the right. The reason this is done is to decrease the actual angle of the bend thus providing higher exhaust velocities. (this best exhaust for a turbo car is a straight pipe!) The lancer evolution cat-back prototype is actually angled more due to this reason, as are many other high-power exhaust systems for turbo cars on the market (RX7, Supra, Skyline, etc.)

Drews_WRX - $1050 for the complete system installed with cel-fix, etc.

Thanks!

Gary

Ok, can I get a quote on a Helix catback, and say a TurboXS FMIC shipped to 76137? XXTuning has the TurboXS FMIC for $1300 right now.

If you can go $1850 shipped with all parts needed to install (which I think are already included), it's a deal and I will call today.

I'm getting a new exhaust this spring- if they offer a twin tip, I'm getting this one- it looks to be a very well done piece.
