I am desperate for a solution for my 97 Legacy Outback.
Every Spring and Fall, my headlight pigtails get fried. One of the leads seems to get real hot and melts the hard plastic casing. One headlight goes, and then the other within a month. I've always been able to get a replacement pigtail at my Subaru Dealer (after going through the same problem every time)
Here's the problem: Subaru only provides the pigtail as part of the whole wiring harness. So to fix the problem, I would have to spend over $700 on a new wiring harness. I know there is a pigtail part out there, I just don't know the part number. I know it isn't Subaru. It may be a GM part, but I know it exists. But since I don't have a part number or maker, noone can find this for me. My Subaru dealer says they have a replacement, but they do not have that part anymore. But the part number they have listed as a replacement is not the right one anyway.
The question is, does this part exist, who makes it and where can I get one. I have two fried headlights now and nowhere to turn.
