Same question... Different controls for the 05 so what's the scoop?

It's possible to do for the 2005 STI, but you need to solder new LED's into the HVAC control. I wrote up instructions on here somewhere on how to do it for the 2005 sti. You should be able to find them, it's much harder than the 2004. You can also ship them to me and I'll do them for a small fee

I have done a write as well here you go pictures and all minus the stereo.

Main Gauge Cluster

HVAC Write up

key ring for '03

Links to where to buy the lights on the website is provided along with what to do to them. The main gauge cluster looks spotty but if you use some somewhat clear masking tape and stick it to the back of the gauge clusters it will dim out the bright LED spots. I know kind of cheap way to do it, but it works.

Looks great! I'm jealous cuz i went the condom route for the blue and it came out mint. Is the masking tape ok back there in front of the bulb? Have you noticed any melting or warping from the tape or anything?

Default What about gels?

Anyone tried to use plastic gel film from photography/theatre lighting? Comes in decent size sheets (should be able to get similar at TAP in the Bay Area), and in many colors, including nice dark reds, blues, etc.

They're very color stable. Although you might need to use a BRIGHT light behind them (some of them are pretty dark). But they're probably the best bet for reds that don't go pink or blues that don't go teal when you shine a light through it.

Although you might need to pull the needles to do it right..

Anyone figured out how they setup the needles at the factory?

Anyone done this with the 06? I just sold my Audi and bought a WRX and I miss my red interior. I had an 02 WRX before the Audi and hated the Green when I had the first too. I couldn't see any pics of red lights mod on the pages....can someone repost?

thanks

Ok, this doesn't seem so hard so I am going to do it. I just bought some red bulb covers and they are in the snail mail. Here is my question:

Every interior light will be red after this mod EXCEPT the little word AUTO on my power window buttons. How do you get at this light, and once you're there can you even change it?

i have been seeing a lot of different ways to do this ranging from buying bulb condoms to sharpie markers to window tint and stage lighting film!

i have tried all of those....

the condoms cancel out the red in the needles!
the sharpie fades fast and you have to keep doing it!
the stage lighting...i just didnt like it
and the window tint took forever to get the right stincle and even then i had whit from the lights bleeding through giving me hot spot!

what i did is used nail polish! yep nail polish!

i had already got that green crap off the back with nail polish remover and then i painted the back (the actual plastic behind the guages) red with nail polish! it took a while because you have to do a layer and let it dry and you have to make sure that they are even layers! but it is very easy to fix if they arent even!

plus, if you dont like it, you can always use nail polish remover and take the stuff off! It might be a mess for a while getting a whole thing of nail polish off but you can do it!

i happen to do my friends like two nights ago and mine last night and they both look great! i have one hot spot on the bottom of the 5 on the tach but that can be fixed very easily!

other than that, the color is even as can be!
