Post challenger to the WRX with pic and specs

http://www.topgear.beeb.com/motorsho...009/index.html

That's the story that Top Gear had on the Mazda Concept car taht they want to build as a challenger to the WRX and Evo. Not sure how watered down it would be by the time it got to the US but it at least looks promising and it doesn't resemble a Neon.

With the 6 cylinder engine and a slightly larger body then the WRX it might have slower stock numbers. The thing is it won't need to run 14lbs of boost to get 280hp like the WRX. It will also have more of the torque that we all love. If they build it in a reasonable amount of time I'd buy it. It looks better then the new Impreza and has better number then the Legacy. SOA would find it tough to sell a 2.5L n/a Legacy as a GT when that Mazda was around. Hell Mazda could still sell it as a 2 models with a turbo 6 and a n/a 6. Then just leave the option of the turbo as aftermarket. That would be the dream offer though.

I still want this car. The RS is nice but I need a little more room next time around. Besides it meets all the requirements. Its fast, looks good, turbo, AWD and oh yah its fast.

I can pretty much promise you that we in the good old' USA will get the MPS "GeeTee" model which has a 135 HP V6 with 734 pounds of speed enhancing stickers and wings. It will be capable of 0-60 in the 17 second time frame. But here's the good news. It will have 3.7 cup holders per passenger!!!

That's old news guys. I've seen that months ago. It's some sort of modified 626 family sedan. It would much bigger than teh WRX or EVO. And we won't get it. Cus we already have he 626 Cronos and Mazda is debuting another SUV!

That's a gem, but there was also this concept they recently had that was to compete with the 3 series and Lexus' new IS. RWD and all. I'd take either of those over the new WRX because I'm getting older and would be willing to dump $30 bones for some added luxury.

Too bad we'll never see either, because Mazda is about as screwed up as Nissan right now. And they're not getting any help from Ford either. I read that their new SUV was suppose to release at least a year ago, but Ford delayed it so they could get their own version(Escape). Now everyone thinks the Mazda version is just a rebadged Escape, which actually it isn't. Shame.
