Thumbs up Autorotor kit on its way!

I will have 99.5% of it on Friday. Of course, I am waiting for one of the idler pulleys which their supplier had promised to get to them early this week, but won't get to them until Friday, so I won't get it until Monday at the earliest, and it will be installed next week. More details to follow

Forgive my blissfull ignorance but what is an autorotor? Something to do with the brakes? Like "turning" the rotors?

Robert. excellent. best of luck with it. hopefully when the kit goes in we wont hear too much from you...you'll be out driving it too much to bother writing about it

Snoop, the Autorotor is a type of Supercharger and Robert is the 1st to recieve this LONG AWAITED kit from Rimmer Superchargers.

It will definately have a voice, but until I get it installed and to the track I'm not yet sure if it will be a squeak or a roar!

Robert - If you are going to install it yourself, let me know and I'll come over and take pics if you want. Oddly enough, I think the rest of us are as excited about you getting it as you are!

Yes!! I have been waiting for this day! Now perhaps I will save up my money for a supercharger instead of getting another car...like the AE86 FR's are so cool~

Keep us up to date bout the kit!

Question

Hmmm... I don't know much about the autorotor kit. What would make this superior to an Eaton? Is it cheaper? How does the powerband compare?

The Autorotor is more efficient than the Eaton blower, so for the same boost you have a lower outlet temperature. The price of the kit and more details can be found at Rimmer's site http://www.rimmersuperchargers.com

Al Gainey's kit is also on its way to him.

This topic has been discussed a lot here (mostly by me), so a search will give you more details.

There is a difference between passing the test and being legal.

In califonria none of the kits are legal and none of these kits will pass a state with a visual inspection.

Almost any kit will pass a sniffer test at idle, though they may not pass a rolling dyno test.

The Federal Clean Air Act makes removing or modifying any emissions equipment illegal. The Minnam kit requires removal of one of the cats which is clearly illegal.

Usual dislcaimer - I'm not your lawyer. YMMV. I'm not talking about getting caught, I'm talking about the rules. This is all merely a discussion of this issue.

so Robert, will you be driving out to CO in a couple weeks? I'd love to actually see a kit on a car. I live about 2 hrs from C. Springs so going to visit Rimmer just for kicks is not something I can easily do. I'd love to see your kit; if it's on by then.

Question

Can someone please clarify the ramifications of SC'ing/TC'ing in reference to emissions tests...i.e., does the car still pass the test if it's supercharged/turbocharged?

Thanks,

Jonathan Kent
