For money, ****s and giggles, bragging rights, whatever.
Here's the kicker: I drive a Neon! Email me at neon@easynews.com as I don't really check this board too often. Later. M

I'm nowhere near the area but just for evreyone's info, I got my ass kicked at the autocross last weekend by a Neon that pulled a 3.5 second faster run then me on a 40 second course.

Any engine with laughing gas or other well tuned mods will be fast, to me Neons have my respect but this guy sounds too sure, just ignore him...

I sound too sure about what? Did I say I could stomp any Impreza RS? No, I didn't. Where do you guys draw these conclusions from? I KNOW I can't because I actually lost to the only RS I ever raced--Shane's blue Turbo.

I'll actually be at Etown Sat. morning. Only I am going to be testing a new PT Cruiser for a car magazine. We are going to be sharing the 'strip with Pontiac but you are welcome to come and say "hi." And yes, I will also be running my white Neon ACR there.
I'll be sure to check out the autocross though and see how you guys are running. M |

Bragging rights, sure. BTW: I have a 1997 2.2ltr Outback Sport Wagon. You should be able to whoop me good. Be sure to tell all the times we post. What do u say? |

Hey Marc,
You do know that the RS is not exactly a fast car, right? The kind of racing I'm sure you're talking about is not what the RS is designed for. And a stock Neon will stick with a stock RS on just about any pavement race. Throw in some rain, snow, mud, or gravel and the RS shines. RS owners don't like to race cars in the same class on pavement, just like Neon owners wouldn't dare race an Impreza (any AWD Impreza) on anything other than pavement. |

Bryan, that comparison goes for any regular road in the northeast other than a track. Those pebbles on the edges of the road will cause the non-awd cars to faulter as well...
So basically any real-world situation with curves, the AWD will tear up the course. -mike |

Well, I gotta admit I have been burned by a Neon R/T, but I can't tell what he was running - it was pretty loud, but no way to tell for sure what mods he had. I suspect something along the lines of nitrous!
I agree, situation sounds kinda funny. It's not often we get owners of other types of cars on this board trying to get us to race. I'll tell you what tho, Marc, if you're ever in the DC metropolitan area, I'll give you a run for some money. Not much, cuz I'm not exactly wealthy... But I have a few new tricks up my sleeve in my 99 2.5RS too! Dying to test it out... perhaps against a similarly-equipped vehicle. |

Could someone please explain the Neon R/T to me? In a recent C&D article comparing the Neon to the Neon R/T, the base model beat it at every acceleration test they had. And both cars were rated at 130 hp or whatever. What's the point? Were they just wrong?

MOPAR. IS A JOKE!!!
I have a Shadow. Love the car but you can't get anything for it. now since neon's are coming up they are adding performance mods for them. Little mods. I Thought of a Neon but why get a car that can only mod it to go only so quick. (i'm just pissed cause Mopar isn't as strong as it should be, grow some balls and make some serious power for the $20,000 and under crowd. We can only dream.) |
