Muha ah ha ha...
You must not have very many miles on your car. Next will come the rattle in the headliner, then the glovebox, and then the door panel.
You can ask the dealer to consider this a warantee repair, they'll take it apart and put it back together and it may be better or worse than before.

Do pre-2k cars have this many rattles?

Please don't tell me the RS has Rattles. My Shadow use to drive me crazy with all its rattles. Mostly because my bass loosened it all up. I might as well put bass in my RS just so I don't hear it.

The RS has rattles. Lots. So do most cars of this kind. If you don't want rattles, I suggest high profile tires, a nice soft suspension, and lots of pliable rubber bushings. You could also coat everything in a layer of felt or something -- very pretty.

You know, just about every car I've driven in has rattles of some kind.

Rattles are a fact of life with the RS.

Check out this old post. This "mod" has kept the rattle from coming back! After 11,500 miles the only 2 rattles I have now are the sunroof headliner and the back roof pillar!

Geb-

I shoved a penny inbetween the crack just to the right of the stereo faceplate, and the rattle magically went away.

Yeah, it looks junky, but I'm not driven insane by the rattles anymore...

Richard - Let me say this... If you were to give away the 22B, I'd be first in line to take the rattletrap.

Rattles, what rattles. I had one in the left a pillar. Just raised the antenna past half way and it is no more. I do get a perodic squeaking from the trim around the radio after I replaced the factory one. Keep in mind I have only 16k miles. there may be more.

I just dropped a socket in the trunk lid this past weekend. With my 2 12" subs, THAT'S rattling!! I took off the lid yesterday and shook the darn thing out.

Well, front and rear STB's (strut tower bars) should help reduce the amount of creaking/rattling resulting from chassis flex, but any rattles from looseness of panels, you're pretty much stuck with. A front STB does sometimes get rid of dash rattles...

Question

I have a MY99 (Sold in July '98) that has 22k miles on it and I honestly don't notice any rattles at all... maybe the robots at Gunman were slacking off during the production of the MY00 chassis... I also have all the premium stereo upgrade -- perhaps the mechanics at the dealership were very careful about putting the dash back together tightly or something...

found a cure all way to fix all rattles. Expanding foam!!! I'm going to use the foam on everything!!! the Dash, enging compartment, the trunk. And even to inflate my tires to stop them squealing around turns.

good idea. HUH.

I have no rattles other than coins, wheel lock keys which I keep in the secret dash compartment , and one live .50 caliber bullet I out ran and caught with my teeth(actually, my Gulf War Veteran friend gave that to me as a suvenier(sp?) from Iraq).

Besides those loose personal items, my car was well built. No rattles.

However, the back seat makes this squeegy sound whenever someone sits back there. A slight annoyance.

Dont worry guys, like some of you have said, smaller cars with performance oriented suspension setups and little soundproofing and things to make your ride cushy will end in rattles quickly, specially rides with sun/moonroofs.. My 99 Si 's sunroof is driving me nuts, every time i take it to have its oil changed i ask them to "Fix" it, which they only take it apart, grease some parts and then install it again, its fine until a few months down the road.. if you dont want rattles, well you would have to sacrifice the things that make the RS/Si/typeR/GSr/VR6 the cars they are.. you'd have to get either a luxo-cruiser, or a luxury sports car/sports coupe/sedan ..

just crank up the stereo!

or do what i do, drown myself in the sound of the engine :

i know high revving engines are not for everyone but i love mine. (stock except for a cold air intake, no coffee can )
