Default tint question

just wondering what kind of tint have you fellas (and ladies) pulled off without getting hassled by the cops? I know what's legal, but wondering how tight they are about the numbers.

I have all seven windows on my legacy wahon tinted at 35%. I was never hassled until two weeks ago. A cop in NV at a road check told me I have to take it off. Part of the reason I was never hassled is because it is a family car and because the tint was not to dark.

yea, I was thinking 35-ish on all but the windshield would be safe. I would like a bit darker though...just dont 'want to throw away cash getting it removed and redone all the time

Your best bet is to just do the rear windows. It is illegal to do the fronts and the more conspicuous your car is (rims, lowered, exhaust etc), the more likely you will be to get nailed. I think it is a $70 ticket for having your front windows tinted.

The fine is $109 (since February 1st, 2004), with a $25 deduction for timely payment.

My rears are gangsta-tinted. The car came that way.

my car is still sock right now, and it's going to take a while to afford rims/exhaust/ tint/sound system/springs/swaybar and all the other crap I want.

I just photochopped a pic though (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=520222), and the full tint looks soooooo nice. Maybe I can just 50% the fronts and 35 the rest.

If you get 50s on the front, I wouldn't be too worried, they're not very noticeable at all.

I'd prefer to get 35, but if ima get hassled for it, I will just get 50 fronts to even the tint out a bit

its ok to tint all windows behind b-pillar with any %.

its NOT ok to tint front windows (driver's side, front passager's side, front windshield) with any % (you will get ticket).

but if u wanna tint front windows, dont tint same % as your back window, make it ie. f35/r20 or f50/r35 instead of f35/r35 or f50/r50; by these kind of combination, its harder to notice that u tinted front window but u will still get ticket if u got caught

just my 2cp

I fade my windows to dark from front to back, never had a hassle at any road blocks...but of course the windows are down as soon as I sense danger.

i don't know why everyone wants to flirt with the law when it comes to tinting from windows... it's just something extra a bad cop can use against u towards a VI

well whats the stock tint in the WRX? isnt it like 60 blue tint? i had a cop scratching at my front windows, he didnt believe me that they came with a slight blue tint to them. as for my rear three, they are all 5% limo black from the outside its more of a mirror then a window hehehe... oh yeah backing up at night with limo tint is very very difficult

So who's actually been busted for tint other than tora?

My car came with darker tint than I would like ... no money to replace it at the moment though...

my brother has. he had a metallic 50% in the front and 5% rears on his integra. he went thru a seatbelt check at night downtown and they gave him the choice of either a ticket or take a key to the front windows and tear some of it off
