Thumbs up MY01

The new model is a completely fresh car. However, Dumper - who was able to drive the WRX and other Impreza models in Japan in March - says supposed scoop computer-generated images carried by Britain's Autocar magazine recently are wide of the mark.

“I can tell you that it doesn't really look like that. They're about half-way there with the photo, but that's about it.”

—-SNIP---

Interesting bits...
—-SNIP---
Talk of a six-speed manual gearbox is also completely wrong, he says.
—-SNIP---

—-SNIP---
“The WRX has more torque and different delivery. The power is the same but it's smoother now.”
—-SNIP---

Perhaps the final point confirms...

Best bit is the 'flat shift' feature. My little bird said you can run
it to red line, and as you shift it automatically drops revs to
around 4000..... with your right foot flat to the floor. When the
transmission hooks up again, throttle opens again. He said it was
amazing, and shirped all four tyres in most gears. Not sure if it
has 6 speeds, but it jumped better than he has been driven before.

Hmmmmmmm... interesting. I never heard of a flat shift feature but it sounds promising.

I don't think I had heard about the flat shift feature before. If the rumor is true, that means it probably has throttle-by-wire. This could account for some of the comments about different power delivery too. You can do some drivability tricks with TBW.
