the price looks like big time rip off.
If I remember correctly, one STi spring's MSRP is 8000yen. The site sells for 9600yen ea.

Try this site. I had good experience w/ this company in Japan.
www.checkerflag.co.jp

Their STi parts price aren't too good, but for Tein, and other brands, they have competitive pricing.

I got my WRB Sti front grille from them. Vivid was charging like 290+shipping...and when all was said and done I got my grille for a little over 240 shipped from japanparts.com. I was very pleased...no complaints from at all about my transaction.

Some parts do look overpriced...but you should email them anyway.

Later,
~ Joe

Thumbs up japanparts.com

I've ordered from them and found their prices for many things to be quite fair in comparison to US vendors. Akira (their parts manager) is really on top of things.

They're usually very good about emails (sometimes things get sent to the "wrong" email box but not usually), getting back the next day (since they're on Japan time).

Parts take awhile to get here, 10-12 days via EMS (their courier).

A recent example ordering authentic STi parts for my GC8:

I ordered an STi pink/gold 6 stars emblem for GC8, a CF STi emblem, and the STi aluminum MT pedal set in blue and the total for parts came to 16,400 JPY which is ~ $124 USD.

Shipping via EMS was about $20 USD. They also have to charge 5% for a fee (about $7).

So for $151 shipped that's not a bad deal IMO.

Is it just me or are the GC8 parts more expensive than the GDA parts. Like the CF STi trunk badge is $15 for GDA and $17 for GC8, but it's the same thing. And the flaps are priced at $150(which seems great) for GDA but like $330 for GC8.

garface, don't get confused. the GC8 and GD models are different. Not all of them, but just be aware before you purchase.

Assuming they aren't going to kill you on the shipping, their prices look good. I was converting Yen to USD for various parts. Example, for the STi 5mt flywheel the price in USD was about $394. Hmm, possibly a new source for parts?
I will have to check out their price quote.

depending on how fast you want it, and the weight and volume of the part. Sometimes up to half the price of the product ordered. Usually, a little less.

I just received a quote from them for the STi flywheel. The price of the flywheel was 50,400 JPY(~$394), and the shipping minimum was 8,200 JPY (~$64). So, about $460. That seems reasonable to me, unfortunately I already ordered the flywheel from someone local for about $530 + tax. Maybe next time?

These guys seem pretty cheap for their prices. I just got this quote and it looks real good.

*STi STRUT TOWER BAR (F): 26,300JPY $210
*STi STRUT TOWER BAR (R): 21,000JPY $167
*SUBARU DOOR MIRROR FINISHER Painted: 11,000JPY $88
*SUBARU DOOR MIRROR COVER Painted: 8,800JPY$70
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sub Total: 66,300JPY $529
Shipping to U.S via EMS: 14,200 $113
++it'll take about 10-12 days(working day) to get to
U.S since we receive your payment.++
Mail Order Card Sale (5%) By Credit Card Company: 4,250JPY $34
==================================================
Total: 84,750JPY $676
Not bad, especially for STi prices ($28 for an STi Radiator Cap). The best I've found for the F+R STi strut bars (here in the US) was $490 (no shipping), they are saying theirs are $377 (no shipping). OK, now shipping is gonna be higher from Japan->NJ than say Calif->NJ and then you have to add in the 5% charge. I think it still comes out cheaper. Now, if they'd really come through with the parts.
I haven't ordered yet, but I'm seriously considering it.
Angry JapanParts
Hi all,
I ordered some parts from these guys last week. I got the parts in 5 business days, but right now I am not quite happy. I am awaiting to see if they will resolve this problem so I can post the whole story.
One thing to keep in mind...everyone gives varying exchange rates, and sometimes, there can be some big price differences. I find www.xe.com to be a bit agressive compared to what your credit card company or bank (if you are doing a direct trasnfer of funds) to be. Plus, many card companies actually charge you to do an overseas transaction (like a bank would charge to do a wire overseas).
Just something to keep in mind
i got my STi mesh foglight cover from japanparts.com, with shipping was only about $200
but sadly vivid is selling them for $250 (without shipping!)
i bought alot of other parts from them. you also get cheaper shipping if you buy more stuff and ship it together.
the shipping cost ain't crazy high, so its all good =] =]
These prices on GC8 stuff are too good!
I will be placing a large order with Japanparts.com shortly.
These quotes are just too good. Plus they actually have GC8 stuff listed and are willing to still sell to us non wrx owners!
Other vendors who cant take the time to list things they can get for the small GC8 market, and or answer emails as to if they can source the parts for me, well its your loss. I have given so many vendors a chance I no longer feel guilty not supporting NASIOC vendors.
Well, for one thing, they have the new C-west aero parts that I can buy from right now. Since no one answered by plea for that stuff in the wanted forum I guess they're my only choice if I want that grille ...
