Question how long does it normally take to receive your title in the mail

after buying your new car?

It's been a month and a half and I don't have mine yet

unfortunately memory is lapsing and I can't remember how long it took the last time.

sorry if this is in the wrong forum

Mine took a couple of months. In some states, if you took out a loan for the car, the bank will get the title instead of you.

In Illinois the bank holds your title until the car is paid off.

In NJ the bank holds onto the title but i think it takes about a month or two possibly three depending on how slow they are before you receive it...

unless it's changed recently, the owner/driver of the car gets the title in my state (NY), it just has a note on it that there's a lien on the car. I had the titles to the last 2 cars I owned in my possession and had loans out on them. so I should be getting the title to my rex, I'm just getting paranoid I guess. seems like it's early yet.

Thanks for the help & replies.

I figured this was everywhere. You only get the title when you own the car outright. In Florida at least.

Here, they have 30 days to send the title, because the temporary license plate is only good for 30 days and you have to have the title to get real plates and dealers aren't allowed to give more than one temp on a car.

That doesn't mean that they actually get it done in 30 days--one dealer got the title to us in a week, another one took seven weeks and a LOT of angry phone calls and threats to bring the car back before they finally put it in the mail. The car had to sit in the garage for three weeks because we couldn't license it. Would've been a serious problem if we hadn't had an extra vehicle to drive.

Registered my STi Ver. 3 GF8 on Monday and got the title on Friday.

It took longer to get my MI driver's license than it did to get the title.
