OK guys I need some suggestions here. I'm currently experiencing prolong burn out from school (non stop for 4 years since high school including every summer term). I need a place to relax for a weekend for low cost. Some place to be with nature for a while so I won't end up climbing the SFU cell tower at B-Lot and start picking people off with a rifle. I'm will to spend around 200 to 300 on the whole thing and I'm looking for some place on the island that won't kill my wallet.

Tofino....I think there are still some deals to be found in the off season. Or try Whistler, they are hurting for business right now.

Ya, Tofino is good. By the time you include the ferry and gas it might be over your budget though. This is the low season which will help with the hotel cost, but the nice ones are still outta your budget.

We have a cabin on Pender Island that is my getaway. The gulf islands are a haven for weary city folk.
edit: Tofino is an awesome place to go too. The drive alone is well worth the trip. While my wife slept, I drove the island highway and enjoyed every single turn. Plus, there's one area where you're travelling through a forest, and it's just like a scene from Gran Turismo's Deep Forest track. Well worth it, imho. |

Hey Koyo,
I hear your pain man. My girlfriend and I are feeling a bit burnt out as of late from work. Just finished booking hotel for resorts in Parksville. Check out the low season rates there (50-70/night). Including the +$40 ferry ride each way, you are looking of the mid $200s after tax. I've been there before and it has lots of nice nature and scenary to help you forget about your busy life here. Good luck man... and let me know if you decide to go the rifle route so I can stay away ;-) |

Thanks for the inputs guys. I checked out Tofino and there's this hotel that offer 2 nights deal with breakfast and dinner and a sea kayak thingy for 200 bucks. The ferry money is going to set me a bit over budget so I'll just deal with it. As for the rifle route, unless you go to SFU then you should worry (look at Derke's direction), otherwise you're fine.
