Thumbs down State Farm and RS classification

Text
I recieved my quarterly premium notice this week. State Farm has re-classified the MY98 in a new category. My agent says that studies have proven that costs for repairing our particular car have risen dramatically in the last three years as well as claims. Im wondering why so many RS drivers are claiming insurance repair? I am welcome to your thoughts...

Do a search for crash or accident on this forum and you will see the reson for so many claims. apparently impreza's are highly magnetic... they attract guardrails and other cars liek crazy. being a nice ca that a number of younger drivers own i also suspect that they attract keys, boots, etc as well from jealous peers. Also, being as rare a car as it is, ther are not a lot of parts for them in the U.S. so all our parts have to come over from japan, wich jacks the pice up.

It is not just your insurance agaency. The level at which the RS is listed is an industry wide decision. I know that the 00RS is listed under the same category as a Camaro/Firebird and Mustang. Also due to fact that there were few produced also pushes up the price on insurance.

Let me tell you with 6 speeding tickets, 3 accidents, and being 22. My insurance is no walk in the park.

Mine went up $22 for six months with State Farm. Not too bad I guess. Total for six months is $521. That's after $186 worth of premium reductions. It would be nice if they told you what the rating group you are in is.

Yeah, USAA rocks. Thanks Dad!
Totalled a 99 Integra GSR last summer in a single car collision (read: rolled down hill), and they found me not at fault and didn't change my rates.

Ouch!! over $500 for insurance? I use nationwide and my premium with full coverage including towing and all that other crap with $100 deductables is only $440 every 6 months. I'm 22 also. Maybe it has something to do with the state and area? I live in a small town... make that a really small town. I don't get the deal with insurance companies anymore. It's all a money racket.

Jason

correction, just got my renewal today with actual insurance cost. $416.63 /6 months

I find it amazing that its unconstitional to discriminate against people due to sex, age, race, medical handicaps, etc in the USA, EXCEPT if you are an Insurance Company!

No accidents.(in all 20 years I have driven)
No tickets. (in all 20 years I have driven)
$700 + year on MY00 RS?

Midwayman - I'm on a family plan so I've got a helluva discount. I wouldn't be able to afford everything if I wasn't. I'm talking an online quote of $1800 every 6 months if I remove the 2 speeding tickets (which aren't effecting my rate now), otherwise it's about $2000 for 6 months. And I'm 23, I just get rated for the heaviest rate possible like I live downtown, even though I live in a suburb.

Well don't feel bad fellas. I sold my RS and got an ITR, and my insurance almost doubled!

I have no tickets or accidents, and even get some money off because I have my house insured with the same company.

Ah, to be old....

First of all State Farm sucks..."just my oponion" The reason I say that is because they wanted 4Grand from me with no tickets. So I went to my local Insurance broker and they put me under Windsor Ins. I only pay $1,500 a year with a $500 deductable.I'm 27 so i'm not sure if that has anything to do with it though.....Gerry

Cool

My Statefarm insurance is not too bad, 80ish for a MY99 RS, but then I'm 33, no tickets(ever!), no accidents(well no reported ones, ...), wife's car and the house with the same insurance .
A friend of mine pays 200.-/month for a 95 escort, now that sucks. It's all the area you live in.

My SF insurance went up a little last year but I'm paying $200/month for FOUR cars and a $2Million liability umbrella policy.

But I'm ancient (well not as old as RSquire ) and married, yadda yadda.

The advantage of being over 25, married, with a wife who was in the military....cheap a$$ insurance.

The premium for both drivers and cars is less than when it was just me and the RS.
