Ahhhhhhh dam.
What am I gonna say when people ask the same question everyweek? I can't yell at them for being lazy and not searching. I guess I can, but I am worried that less and less people will be able to find what they are looking for. Doesn't that mean more posts and longer searching? Isn't that going to be hard on the server?

Also, does this have something to do with me not being able to delete my own posts?

You have to excuse the very high possibility that my questions are dumb. I have no experience with hosting BB's and servers.

Hey Nick,

I also noticed that some of the search hits that point to older posts are missing/broken. I assumed that the older posts were probably archived offline due to space limitations. Is this true? Will they be brought back later once the new permanent server is installed?

Ok... for the time being the search all forums has been removed from the search option. People have been getting a little lazy and abusing it and it's putting the temp server into the ground. When we get the new server, or people learn to search individual forums instead of ALL, then we can turn it back on.

Later,
Nick

I've onlyl done it twice and it was to see how many posts I made in the last 24 hours. I think the best I got was 41, just FYI.

Hucker: We are working on it... we have the money now it's just time to pick out the server.

Mel 22B: The can still search, just not a general search of the entire forums. I mean the odds people really need to search everything is very unlikely. If you are looking for the answer to a technical question, search the technical forum.

As far as deleting your own posts, this was never an option. You can delete a reply, but you could never delete new posts.

kelley: When we were origonally trying to put the fire out that was on the existing server we had we deleted some old out of date posts. Those posts are gone right now. However Alex (Imprezer) is the one who went through them so I believe he was pretty careful about what he dumped and kept.

I beg to differ. I have deleted my own posts on this forum and on the MidWest forum and even on the NorthEast forum. Some with replies, some without. The one here in the general forum had a good 15 replies before I deleted it.
