Question leather seats? other dealer options

Hey everyone.
I read a little while back about some guy whose RS was sitting at the dealer waiting to be picked up, and the guy said he had leather seats in it.
Now I'm considering getting an RS, but when I checked I couldn't find any options for leather... Except when I checked Lycos' autoguide. When I picked "Buy this car" to look at the options, leather seats was one of them. So what's going on here? Subaru's page doesn't list anything like this, so I'm in the dark.
I've got enough fiscal leeway that if I get an RS, I can completely deck it out (at least the initial purchase). So leather seats would be a nice improvement over the stock seats. I've only seem the stock's a couple of times, but I remember thinking they were pretty cheap-looking to me. What are the opinions on any of the other dealer options?
About the buying decision: the main thing holding me back from the RS is that there's only one dealer down here in Miami, and he's pretty far from me (about an hour). Plus it's one of those combo dealers (Olds-Suzuki-Subaru I think), and their salesmen didn't really impress me when I was visiting. (when we asked during the test drive if there were any roads around where we could check out the handling, he was like "Um, excuse me? Do a u-turn up here so we can head back...")

Hey,
I'm not positive about this, but I'm pretty sure the leather option fro mthe dealer is a custom option, in that they just send it out to an aftermarket place and get it done for you. Talk to the dealer, they should know. About other options, don't bother with the pgraded stereo..aftermarket is much better..also, I'm not so sure about the performace exhaust you can get fomr Subaru. There are much better aftermarket exhaust systems (IMO). Other than that, good luck.

Well, I got the factory leather. The black with red stiching and RS Logo embossed kind. I dunno what happened to it, but it USED to be on Subaru's web site. I guess they canned it because of cost or something. *shrug*

My friend just got his MY00 yesterday, and he got it with black leather/red stitching. It was on the subaru brochure we got from the dealership a few months ago..

You can get leather through the dealership. They just order a leather kit from a outside company and install it for you. Peaty just did this a month or so ago. He has some info about it and pictures on this website
http://www.azscooby.freeservers.com

I belive it is priced between $1000 and $1300 depending on colors stichings and how much your dealership likes you But I haven't bought it so I can't be sure.

Hope this helps,

Aaron

EDIT: fixed some of the many typos

The "factory" leather is actually dealer installed. When we get in an RS on sold order that needs leather, we actually have to order the leather interior kit and then have it installed. You cannot order it from the factory with the leather installed, which I think is also why Subaru took it off the website.

Where are you located? I would love the opportunity to help a fellow I-Clubber get their RS. If you are interested feel free to email me deadbolt@aol.com.

Aaron is right. I had mine done by the dealer. They couldn't get me the leather that comes from Subaru. From what I understand you have to get that when you order the car. Mine was done by a local installer the dealer uses. My total cost was 1180. Go to the link Aaron mentioned and I have some good shots of it. IMHO the leather is better quality (it is real leather BTW) We have leather in our Legacy and this stuff I have feels a lot better.
