Cool I'm officially a Mustang killer!

3:40pm, schools out on a wet Thursday afternoon . I'm driving down the highway coming back from the Ferry terminal and some 18 yr old kid pulls up along side, driving a nice looking black w/ white stripes Mustang. He revs his engine, I rev back... The light goes green and the rest is history. I blew him away of the line! He actually caught me and passed me maybe 100 -150 metres later. As soon as I went into 4th, he was done. I destroyed him! I went screaming past him and I saw him yell the f word and punch the steering wheel. That takes care of Honda, Hyundai, Chevy, Nissan, and now Ford. God I love AWD

hehe, uh, im sorry but if you shoot a lion when he's inside an office building, does that make you a lion killer? no, that simply means you beat him on your own turf im sorry, but had the ground been dry... hehe

Thumbs up

Welcome to the club 22b-Wannabe! I've humilated every stock or near stock mustang that has tried to "play" with me. The only one that gave me a great race was a new SVT Cobra.

I was on his a$$ in a canyon, and every time I had a good chance to make a super clean pass, conditions were too dangerous. SO I rode his bumper all the way to a wider section w pass lane, that becomes very tight afterwards. I came off the corner alot hotter, and *just* pounced on him using third, then got him easily on the brakes.

After that I pulled about a 5-6 sec gap until the end, which was about a minute later. He pulled up next to me, and said "that's a turbo right?" I replied, "yeah, so don't feel so bad, nice drivin too!" and smiled. He looked at my car again and said "Yeah, you too, that was fun, take it easy!" waved and drove off like his house was on fire, tires a smokin'. Seemed cool enough, and drove with real class.

I'm not one to report "kills", but that "beat him on your own turf" thing set me off. Most of the other 'stangs I've played with were not SVT cobras, and were freeway "kills". I've had one or two stoplight grand prix's that turned out well too.

Later all, and keep your Subies slideways.

I'd say the Mustangs are the only decent competition for a turbo Impreza, Camaro's are extremely slow.

Ideal circumstances? Actually, an Impreza is good in any weather, dry, wet or snow. It's the Mustang that needs the ideal setting to win against an AWD vehicle. Dry pavement. As far as twists goes - I think the Mustang handle fairly well.

The Mustangs do quite well in autocrosses, as they should - after all, they have well over 200+ lbs of torque compared to our 165. They should be able to beat us. Twice the cylinder, in some cases 100 lbs more torque.

Maybe he's not an "official" Mustand killer...but rather the Mustang is an "official" Impreza victim? The driver should have known better than to race in the rain against an Impreza. The Impreza is just a tad below it's potential when the road is wet....whereas the Mustang is well below it's potential.

Just being honest in my assessment of the situation.

After Killed a Viper post I thought you were just going to say that you hit the damn horse with your car. Then again it is only 5AM where I'm at and I still need coffee. I just wonder why nobody posts how they beat a GSX in the rain off the line? If everybody is beating all these other cars then why not post the few times you lose? Give the other guy his credit. There are some guys in the auto-x leagues who post better times then we can on the small courses designed for handling.

Cool

I never really cared for horses. Except the Budwiser ones! I doesn't matter if it was wet or not, the mustang reved first so he obviously thought he could beat him.

er.... you sure about that? Until recently the Camaro Z28 was WAY faster than the Mustang GT. The Mustang has closed the gap recently, but I believe the Z28 still edges out the GT. I'm pretty sure....

When you say "only decent competition", you mean when the road is paved, dry, and straight, right?

I'm trying to figure this out, if its raining, snowing, or really ****ty out, and you pull up to a Mustang/Z28 and you "blow" its doors off (highly unlikely) your stoked that you beat a car of its stature. On the other hand, when its a normal day out (dry ground), and the Mustang/Z28 easily walks away, people whine and complain "Oh, if it was bad weather out I'd win" Thats like me saying if the road were full of 1 foot deep pot holes no one could beat me in the 1/4 mile. You can't say your an "Official Mustang Killer" because you beat the Mustang under "your" ideal circumstances, how can you even compare these 2 cars? They are meant for 2 totally different things and excel at what they do best. I'm not here to slam the Impreza, and if you think that, your intitled to your opinion. You could have been driving a Civic Si, and I would have replied in the same manor. I know you love your car, but don't make it out to be something that its not.

Wait, I didn't tell you the story about how I killed a GSX? Well, I pulled to a red light on PCH near main st. I look to my right and I see a GSX with a big banner and pinstripes up the a$$. I'm thinkin' not a bad car. Light turns green. I hit the gas and away I go. Moments later the GSX is nowhere to be seen. I pull a U-turn at the next light to backtrack and when I reach the next light I see the same GSX with the banner and pinstripe on the other side. I guess the guy was still at the beach.

Ok. I raced one of those limited edition TT Supras. (nice, mildly fast cars.....)

The weather was nice, no clouds in the sky.

I bounced off the rev limiter, he didnt.

I took off from the start, he did quicker.

By the time we hit 40mph, he was about 3 car lenghts ahead of me.

Then, I see a big cloud of smoke coming from his exhaust. And whats funny is, after that, he was just a lil ol speck on the road about a mile up....

gee whizzz, Twin Turbo and NOS = Suby killer 4 sure....

I lost.

Ok ok, I beat him under my optimal conditions! But I still beat him. He probably doesn't know that he could kick my ars in dry weather. So he was 'Officially beaten in wet weather by an Impreza'. Okey dokey?!
