Post Alaskan hooligans?

I was just watching the Today show this morning on NBC and they had a story about kids who shot paintballs at Native Americans in Alaska. The assailants videotaped their attacks. They also happened to tape their getaway from the inside of the car and I swear it was an Impreza. Anyone else see this?

Flashboy,
Yes you are correct, it was a Subaru Impreza. From what I can tell it was a Impreza wagon, silver I think?
When my friends read the story of it in the paper that stated it was an Impreza, they actually asked me if it was someone I knew. I remember doing some stupid stuff when I was a kid, but not this stupid. Just another thing that makes Alaska look bad. But do not worry, the kids should be arrested soon, and usually you do not get shot at with Paintballs in Alaska. Well take it easy and drop us a line if anyone ever stops by Alaska, we will make ya feel welcome.

Later,

Kris

Actually the cops already know who did it, and I think they took them in custody sometime this week. They have known who did it, because that was how they got the tape. But they have known it was a Subaru Impreza since the initial investigation.

Later...

Actually, a witness had seen and recorded the license plate number, so tracking down these scumbags and their Suby was not a problem.
They confiscated the paintball gun as well as the video tape that has apparently received national airtime.
These little miscreants have yet to be arrested, however. Part of the problem is that a number of the victims are homeless and tracking them down is problematic. The more victims that can be identified and, hence, provide testimony, the better will be the case against the perps.
The FBI is involved, and if all goes well, they should be able to charge these idiots with commission of a federal hate crime since all the victims were Native.
But the take home message here (i.e. this forum) is this:
1. Even complete a--holes can get their hands on our beloved icon, the Impreza.
2. These jerks are NOT representative of we Alaskans.

Thanks,
marc

I sort of know who did this. One of my friends other friends is the girlfriend of one of the guys involved(does that make sense?). It was her house that they confiscated the video at(making her an accessory). She told my freind who two of the guys were, but wouldn't say the third(I think because he's under 18). One of the guys involved was in my graduating class from Chugiak High School. I was actually suprised he would be involved in something like this since he was an honor student and all. The police and FBI do know who these people are, and haven't placed any charges yet. I think they are still working on setting up an air tight case. The APD is considering charging them with assault or public endangerment, and like Fishbulb mentioned the FBI is likely going to charge them with a hate crime. It's kinda sad that these guys are going to get all sorts of national attention. Dateline has already been up here to interview them all. The media is in a way going to make celebrities out of these guys.

Oh yea, and the car was in fact an Impreza. Don't know if it was a sedan or wagon. From what my friend said it belonged to one of the guys who's father(doctor) bought it for him.

Didn't this same type of thing happen somewhere in the lower 48. These punks probably got the idea from watching hard copy of some show like that. What they did not get was those punks were cought in the act also. Hope they get what they deserve.

Have any of you Alaskans thought to ask the cops if they need advice as to what kind of car the perpetrators were driving? May help them solve the crime.... I saw that vido too and I agree... yep, Impreza.

Bad: Yes, definitely.

Worth national attention: Not.

Paintball stings a bit, but it doesn't kill. I guess living in Detroit I'm desensitized to this kind of thing, because here people kill each other over crap like tennis shoes
