Default Gas Prices

I just heard from a few co-workers that gas is expected to go up to $0.97 per liter today around noon. I hope it doesn't happen, but I thought I would you guys a head up.

the management at the airport (where i work) also does all the fuelling.... under ESSO's namebrand... unfortunately, it's illegal for us to sell aviation fuel for anything other than aviation use... so... convince me that your car's an airplane and we can talk... =D

on a side note, our prices here at the airport for aviation fuels have gone up insane amounts in the past month and a half and it's expected to climb even more... so I wouldn't be surprised to see the car gas going up pretty high too....

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water.

ahhhh jet fuel, that would be nice ,but ethanol is better, its about 120 octain and burns supercool thanks to the extra O2's that are in it, I was really thinking about converting my car to run on E85 (85%ethanol, 15% gas) or pure ethanol , all you really need to do it is a standalone ECU to input the proper A/F ratio and advance the timing.
the best part ,its made out of corn (well any plant matter with sugar) wich is really cool because it can be grown all over the world cheaply. think about that, no oil wars (usa, iraq) all the cash going over seas for oil will be going to farmers of N america who really need it. plus it can be produced far cheaper than gas if produced at the same volumes as gas with half the emessions that petrol makes.....hmmmmmm

Re: ethanol being cheap to produce: Once you consider the gas/oil used in the production and transport of fertilizers, the diesel used to plow, plant, weed, harvest and transport corn to the distillery, the energy required to distill the ethanol and the fuel required to transport the ethanol.... well you get the point - its about a zero net gain by the time you are finished - the reason that ehanol production is subsidized.

Cheers,

Larry in Winnipeg where 90 octane gasahol was $0.64 a litre today

at the moment ,that is true, but I think those production costs are based on the amount of ethanol being made right now, wich is very little, on another note bio deisel is made almost the same way and could power all the farm equp too.
is the "90 octane gasahol" from a mohawk(sp?) gas station? and is it the 15% or 10% mix?

either way if it was the same price wich one would you pic?

The only way we can switch to grain booze power is we stop eating so much cows. Instead of feeding the cows, the grain can be use to make fuel. But the question would be can it deliever as much power per litre as gas and disel.

One scary thing I read in the newspaper is that economists predict $70 US / barrel by end of this year. Right now it's about $32 US / barrel. So it could be possible that we will need $2 CND per litre of 78.

Like Jay Leno said people will date Paris Hillon for her "syphoning" ability.

In Manitoba gasohol contains 10 per cent ethanol.

Most cars can use the 10% ethanol blend safely. Modifications are needed on many cars for the 15% blend.
