Unhappy is my WRX missing something?

well i installed my turbo timer yesterday and everything went fine. but when i went to do the little cut and splice trick for the factory alarm, i couldn't find and box under my center console. and i took everything out and even pulled back some carpet. am i missing something here?

weird! mine was parked right next to the e-brake, bolted down real secure. You should only have to pop off the e-brake plastic trim to see it, it's real obvious. What about the alarm thing that's located by the fuse panel, could you find that one?

The box is right by the parking brake. If you don't see it, you do not have the factory alarm upgrade.

Have you tried it? The upgrade is a shock sensor. Without it, you should have no troubles with your alarm going off after you lock it up.

if it comes from the factory with an upgraded alarm, it is by the e-brake. but if it is dealer installed, it is under the dash, next to the steering column.

well mine has neither. i can lock and unlock my car doors with a keyless remote from subaru and i can press the panic button and it will flash and honk the horn. now, with that said. the dealership did install that stupid Cliford (sp?) alarm system in it and i had them remove it because it was a extra 700$ somethin odd dollers. i just want to be able to lock my car while the turbo timer is counting down so i don't have to sit and wait with it!

Unless you have a upgraded turbo...the WRX owners manual stats that due to the cooling effency of the td04 ..a cool down period is not required.....perhaps if you are driving your car reeeeeally hard...but then again its not like you will just slam your car to a stop and hop out after a rigorous drive...

It's the efficiency of the Subaru's oil-to-water cooling system, not just the turbo that makes a traditional idle down unecessary.
If you have a larger turbo, it's good insurance and it can't hurt.

can you lock your doors with the remote while your engine is running? you should be able to. If you can (have a spare set of keys handy) then you should have no troubles.
