You won't "feel" a definite break-in till around 7,000 miles.

One of the things you will notice is a slight improvement in fuel economy and slightly smoother shifting.

When I was breaking my car in, I noticed that initially, going 60 miles an hour in 5th gear on the highway, rpms would be above 3000- now that the cars broken in and the compression has gone up a bit, the car is somewhere around 2800-2900 rpm in 5th- I'm also noticing rpms generally a couple hundred revs lower throughtout every gear-

Don't know if this is correct or not, but it's my experience with the car- (my00 Standard)

goose, what you are saying makes no sense.

It doesnt matter how much power/etc your motor puts out, you will always be at the same RPM at the same car speed.

The only way to change this is by physically changing the gear ratios of your drivetrain (i.e. different tranny gears, diff gears, etc.)

Goose, are you sure you were in the same gear?

The changes when the car is "broken in" are very subjective. My car's engine felt a little smoother - but maybe that was because I had gotten used to it?

Don't worry about trashing your car with the occasional break-out during break-in.
