Default STi shift light question

Is the shift light in the STi cluster (JDM or USDM) supposed to make any audible sound when it illuminates? I thought I read somewhere that it would buzz or beep when the light came on.

Yeah - it can be set to beep at the desired RPM. When you first turn the knob for the warning light it'll climb thru the RPM's till you stop it (with another turn of the knob), and then you can turn it once more and you'll see it read "On" in the display area down at the botom of the gauge. It may say "Off" first (I don't remember - lol), just turn it once more to get it to beep.
