Default quick question about windows xp

if i have windows xp home and install windows xp pro using the upgrade option, will it keep the programs and profile options i have installed? iow, will i have to back up everything, upgrade, then start installing/customizing everything again?

Default XP home to PRO

When u upgrade, it should keep everything you have. The upgrade is only supposed to upgrade the operating system. It doesn't reformat your hard drive.

My personal experience is that upgrading is tricky it can lead to headaches....sometimes it's easier to backp everything and format.

Upgrading will keep your existing files on the hard drive. I'm not sure if it's Xp that prompts this, but refuse any conversions from FAT to NTFS file systems when upgrading. Ended up losing everything anyway.
