Default Heated Mirror

All the 04 should already been wired for heated mirror. It turns on automatically when you turn on your rear defoster.

Thanks for the info. But I still wonder if the wire already in the mirror housing or just up to the door panel. If it already wire up to the housing, it will be easy just plug in a mirror with heating element. Otherwise, it will be a bit pain to run wire up from door panel to the housing.

I just have my driver side window replaced. By the time the mechanic working on my car, I found that the wires connected to to mirror only have 3. So I suspect 04 WRX are not prewired with heated mirror control to the door. Can someone tell me if my assumption right or wrong? Because 3 wires should be 1 for ground, and the other 2 for up and down control.

Here lies the problem. Heated mirrors are part of a package and not just a option. Our vehicles come from the factory with this package installed and so the dealer can't install the package. STI's are not even offered this package. I'm not sure if a WRX without this package comes with the wiring in the door for this, but it should at least be there up to the kickpanel inside the cabin. I would believe that the STI doesn't even have that part of the harness as the STI should have a totally different harness all together inside the cabin. The STI could be equipped with heated mirrors but you would have to do all of the wiring, not just some of it. Whereas on a WRX without the convenience package you would probably only have to wire it from the kickpanel to the mirror. This is all just speculation, but I would think this is the way it is.

Here are some old threads discussing a retrofit of heated mirrors in cars that did not come with them-

May be some more, that was just a quick search.

Default Blind Spot Mirrors on Heated Mirrors

Anyone know if I can place the sticky blind spot mirrors if my vehicle is equipped with heated mirrors? Or will they melt off if I turn them on?

Thanks,
Nawar

I think you would be O.K. I have the heated mirrors and you can tell when they are on there is about an inch around the edge that doesn't heat up. The heat will radiate to the edge of the mirrors. So the edge of the mirrors doesn't get as hot as the center, and even then I don't think the mirrors get hot enough to melt the 3m tape the blind spot mirrors have on them. If you want to make sure, turn on your rear window defroster and touch your rear view mirrors with your finger to see how hot they get at the edges.
