Default Need a solution for 04 WRX HID head lamps...

a couple of weeks ago i decided to buy HIDs for my 04 WRX and got them a few days ago. after reading the forums, others mention that the stock head lamps would scatter light everywhere. being the stubborn person i am, i decided to see for myself. and now im stuck with HID lights that shoot about 50 feet into the air. i can seriously see traffic signs a 1/4 mile away. not to mention the countless flashes of lights from on coming traffic. these HIDs are making me paraniod of getting pulled over by the police.

does anyone have a solution out there for me? maybe a company that makes projectors for the 04 WRX?

i know that STI head lamps would solve this problem but i cant afford them, because someone mentioned that they are $1200. until i fix this problem, i wont be enjoying my car at night for a while...

As you already know the best solution is a set of STi lights which will be a direct mechanical replacement and look the same, with a bit of wiring required.
The only aftermarket projectors I've seen for the '04 are the Orciari lights. You'd have to check with the various vendors for price, availability and pics. There are Morettes for the '04 but they are NOT projectors.
Although some glare and scatter is certainly to be expected when retrofitting HIDs in the OE reflector housings, what you're describing seems extreme. What type of kit/bulbs did you install, and are the bulbs seated in the housings properly? Are the bulbs the D2S type (for projectors) or D2R (for reflectors with an integral glare shield)? This will make a difference also.
For now your course of action should be to put the stock halogens back in.

I went through the same thing. I removed the HID retrofit kit I had and replaced the entire assemblies with STi units. The STi HIDs are the best way to go. They are a simple install and have a great beam pattern. Start saving up for them - the best price I found was $1200 for the pair. Until then, the right thing to do is remove the HID retrofit and put the halogen bulbs back in. I would be more worried about how unsafe the lights are for other drivers instead of being worried about getting a ticket.

So that I am clear, if I replaced my STI headlight housing with the WRX housing and use the STI HID lights, this will not worked based on the experiences described above.

I want to sell my USDM STI HIDs including bulbs ballasts and burners. How much can I sell them for or how much did you pay for yours?
