Subaru Stars Columbus, OH: Shop Days this Fri. and Sat. (3/26-27)

With my wife out of town for the weekend, I'll be FINALLY getting the coilovers, header, and relocating the battery this weekend.

If anyone needs a hand with other relatively small stuff come on by. I should have access to most any tool we'll need , if not there's a Sears HW and an AUtozone within close proximity.

I've also got Colin McRae 3.0 up and running plus if there's any interest, we can have another GT3 iLink battle.

And just for Kelly, it's time to break in some of the new slot cars. Gotta get the new F1's broken in!

The "shop" is still gonna be open 4/2 right?

Also, did you get my last email about dropping your stuff off? Nathan said it was cool so I will at least be bringing the one set over that way.

if we start once Aimee gets home (noon) we should get them on in an afternoon with no problem. your alignment might suck though. we can always use the string method to keep it reasonable though.

Wow, that is some impressively quick responses!

Anyway, I will send the email again, and yes they are definitely getting close. Too bad my set will be sitting in my garage taunting me since I canít install them for another week and a half.

On an interesting note, I might be helping my brother install his this Friday while I am down there visiting. That is as long as our girlfriends donít kill us for trying that on our "vacation."

once it's on the rack, check every last nut & bolt. they'll probably be able to help you locate where the problem is.

you need someone with a bit more knowledge than most of us here to take a look at it.

so i should just go ahead and take it to ET Paul then !?!

yes. worst case scenario: you have him take a quick look and if it's something that needs to be fixed, you reschedule.

Dude, ET Paul will most likely get you taken care of. Especially if you work with Jack. When he did the alignment on my car (after I put on AGX's and springs) he walked me through everything, answered all of my questions, and gave me tips/suggestions/help. It was great. I'm sure they can tell, if not help you with, what's going on.

Orion, how to get to your house?

Sounds good buddy. We will see what we can do to help. I think my next upgrade will be to the brakes as well (that is after my bank account recovers from the suspension upgrade).

Speaking of...Orion, Nathan, Nate...Have you guys tried or had any luck with upgraded brake components (pads, rotors, lines, fluid, etc) for autox and street use. I think I have seen that Nathan and Nate are doing some brake work before the upcoming HPDE and although your solutions might be more geared for the track, it might still be useful information.

I would just do a search on this but at least I know and trust the opinion of the three people I mentioned here which isnít something I can say about the rest of the boards (plus no one agrees anyways).

I'm at 1285 Tenagra Way 43228. It's right off Trabue Rd. IMMEDIATELY west of 270. The 270 to 70W ramp is literally across the street.

Josh - stoptech OEM size replacement slotted rotors and Axxis Ultimates for me. I use the Goodridge SS lines and ATE Super Blue fluid. Works GREAT!

What do you want to know? I smoked the stock brakes at the track with Stoptech rotors and HP+ pads. Mid O isn't even that hard on brakes. I was getting pretty bad pad taper as well as pitting on the stock rotors, then when I switched to the Stoptech rotors they got pretty bad pad deposits on them as Jordan can confirm. If you're any more than a noob at the track, full race pads are the only way to go.

I've got the big Stoptech kit now with Cobalt VR Spec pads and 245/40-17 Bridgestone RE540S S-compound that I'm going to be using this time. Braking should be quite impressive I think. I just have some Axis ultimate on stock rotors in the rear.

For autocross, what Orion suggested works fine.

I ran my brake setup at Texas World Speedway except I had crappy Axxis Deluxe + pads. Luckily it was low 50's and damp so I had to take it easy. If it were warm and dry it would have been ugly.
TWS makes MidOhio look hard on brakes, it's pretty well flat out since it's so big.

Orion...I was looking to upgrade Wendemac's brakes what does a setup like yours go for and where would I get it?

Also the sales person I dealt with at Hatfield quit and a guy there just called me and asked if I was interested in an R32

Kelly!

We didn't head over there to today like I'd hoped because this stupid cold front brought me one last cold for the year.

I got my stuff directly from Stoptech. I bought all the rotors and the junk pads in late '02 and picke up the Ultimates earlier last season.

The Goodridge SS lines I picked up from a local vendor in Houston for ~$100.

Prices:

Front slotted rotors : $89
Rear slotted rotors : $77

Pads : since you are talking about an '03 you need to read this: http://www.stoptech.com/faq/data/faq29.htm

Subaru changed the pad shape during the model year.

<Another Thread hijack> Anyone know of local or semi local junkyards that actually have wrecked "wrx's" in them? I'm looking for the front brake caliper brakets so I can prepare for my brake upgrade..... $100 bucks for parts I'm sure I can find in a junkyard for about half the price. <end another thread hijack> Thanks!

I'm sure that someone on here has already upgraded their WRX's front brakes and would be glad to sell the brackets to you...
