Post A REALLLLLLY sad day!!!

Yesterday I had my Kenwood Z919 headunit installed and today I was to get my Full turbo kit installed. I walked down from my APT to my car to see the Passenger side window ripped off and laying next to my car with my WHOLE DASH ripped apart. The Head unit was taken, my AFC was taken, and the ITC was taken. The stereo wasn't even fully installed. They knew I had the other speakers in the trunk of my car amung other things and empty boxes and they KNEW WHAT BOX TO TAKE, the ones with the speakers in them. I fell to my knees and wept like a little bitch. This week was to be the best week of my life so far, and some punk ******** had to Fu## it up.

The main reason I'm writing this is to help you, my fellow Subbies, out. See, they knew where I lived by one of TWO ways. They looked at my DMV papers in the glove box, OR they saw my address on the invoice. SO, what you can learn from my mistake is to take out all your address info of the car so that the punk ass installers can't find out where you live, and be careful who you give your address out to.

the second reason is I need some mental help now and I needed to let SOMEONE know.

it's a sad day for me, I can't even drive my car due to not having the AFC, and the ITC RIPPED OUT. I'm currently trying to get those two things now either TODAY or OVERNIGHTED.

Another sad thing is My insurance is up this month, I have the papers for the new insurance in my hand, the NEW insurance is FULL coverage, BUT the insurance I have on the car now is ONLY LIABILITY, so I'm SCREWED.

Unhappy

I feel like crying for you
DAMN, that crap PISSES ME OFF!!
I know this won't make you feel better, but there is a shop "locally" that the manager actually pays little $hits to rip off newly installed stuff (he even makes copies of alarm codes for them) and then he re-sells the stolen stuff. Unfortunately no one has proven this so...

You think the police will suspect the stereo installers? It'll be hard to prove since their prints would naturally be on the car coz they worked on it before. Have them check for previous customers that had their stuff installed there and then within a week had their stuff stolen.

damn.....I feel gutted and it didn't even happen to me. Hope you kick the life out of those bastards good. I recommend steel toed boots.

I >NEVER< give my address to the car stereo shop, ever. I trust my shop which I've used for a long time, but I don't trust the fly-by-night installers or other people there. Never give your address, or at least give them a PO box! I pay $17 a year for a PO Box for just this reason. It happens every day in Chicago...

I've had it happen to me once as well, so I'm hesitant to even install anything other then a head unit now. And I just leave the face on so people can see that it's just a 5-year-old Pioneer deck instead of some quality piece.

At least you've still got your car, though... mine was fk'd up enough after that that I couldn't drive it without a lot of repair. Really sad too since it was a rare car (80 Volvo 242GT).

The only chuckle I got out of the whole thing is that they took the faceplate and remote, but they couldn't get the head unit cause it was bolted to the frame of the car... $130 later I had a working radio and it's the one I'm still using now.

Thats a good question, Jewbaru. I don't know if the cops would even try dusting for prints... when my ***** was stolen, I asked the cop about it since it was damn near $2500 between damage and theft and he actually laughed at me. Pissed me off even more.

The cops asked if I wanted the car dusted down, but they said most likely there would be no prints. The outside of my car is spotless (except for the nice scratch in the side now, and no fingerprints are visable so it would just dirty up the car really bad. There is NOTHING the cops can do. I'm just stuck in the hole right now trying to get a AFC, and a ITC TODAY or by tomorrow so I can at least drive my car, but the passenger side window is gone to, NOBODY here has a damn Subaru WINDOW!!!!! SO I will be forced to take out the AFC and ITC everytime I leave the car cuz of no window. Thanks to all that reply, it helps in some screwed up way.

If you've the money, I'd hire a PI to check around. The cops will treat you like another routine theft victim.

Question

did you pay ca$h or credit? If credit then you might be able to use your credit protection to recoupe your losses.
I was ripped off once, everything was taken, onver $2K in stereo stuff, I was pissed. I have sinse replaced everything and everythig is insured by an underwriter. so if my ***** does get jacked, then I look at it as a time to upgrade.
That totally sucks

Wow that sux. How come you didn't have some sort of alarm? Was your car in the house? or by it? Its definitely inside job since these ppl seemed to know what to look for.
That is why my car has nothing in it. Jus ta scooby doll and some relatively cheap deck. really cheap compares to yours!

Have a Nice Day?

Wow. REALLY sorry to hear that, man. I've heard of ******** like that before in my city. My friend said that whenever someone gets expensive or nice stuff installed in their car, the install guys go steal it. This world SUCKS because of stupid people who have absolutely NO respect for other's property. Hopefully everything will turn out okay for you.

an alarm installed by your car stereo installers does no good. all they do is program a 3rd remote that they keep into your alarm head unit and then they can disable the alarm, open the doors without popping a window, and walking away...

Yes the Z919 is the MP3 one, it is REALLLLLLLLLY nice, at least for the 4hrs I got to play with it.

the CC I used was my BVISA check card, no theft protection. it was a total inside job, TOTALLY. i have a ton of other things to point to it, i will be talking to the owner tomorrow as he was out for the day today. I just registered his 4 Domain names, if he doesn't comply then I will put up HATE webpages for them. I'm super pissed.

Same thing happened to a co-worker after getting new tires and wheels installed. The next moring the car was on cinder blocks. It helps to have a garage.

I know someone who used to work at a stereo shop and when they put alarms in they would do one of two things. program a third remote. Or two, put a toggle switch in the wheel well or under the car where it cannot be seen, and make a spare key for the car. Then a day or two later magic they have the stuff back and selling it as new or keeping it whatever they wanted. Also I have had my rear wing stolen off of my 98RS. The day after Christmas to boot. The world sucks, but at least we still have our cars. Good luck with getting your replacement parts. And dont worry, one way or another those azzholes will get thiers.

Man....first of all I'm really sorry this happened. I can't believe the world sometimes can be capable of such heinous acts. And what really bothers a newbie like myself is that I don't make a **** load of money...I work hard for what I have, and the fact that some ******* without a ****ing conscience can screw you over like this is just plain wrong. You spend all that time and effort for something, and then POOF its gone. Thats just not right. This really vexes me. Good Luck in the future, and thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't have known better, and I could have had the same damn thing happen to me...Thanks again.

Hate to reveal my newbie lack of expertise, but just what are the AFC and ITC, and where were they located?

I've had my car broken into and the stereo stolen, and while I was insured and the damage wasn't too bad, I definitely feel your pain.

The worst part is, what can you do about it? Nothing. Cops don't help, and there's no one out there to be your ally when you get hit like this. You just have to sit and take it, and it's the *****tiest feeling in the world. Anyone out there actually have the stolen goods recaptured, or the bad guys caught? Again, sorry thepas.

If you suspect the installer of foul play, and can't afford to seek justice in the proper manner - have you considered revenge? *not that I advocate the type of behaviour*

Here's a good one-

you could Liquid-Nail his gas cap shut... or the bottoms of his doors closed... or any number of things... You know Liquid Nail is supposedly stronger than the metal.
