Default oem alarm siren won't work

out of nowhere today, my oem alarm siren decided to give up...now when i press buttons on my keyless entry transmitter, the lights flash, the door locks/unlocks, but no chirp...i also tried opening the door while the alarm was armed to see what would happen...the corner lights and the indicator light started flashing, but no sound again...

anybody have a problem like this? anybody have any suggestions?

He has an '00, different alarm than the '02s. May not have that mode.

A friend's 01 RS has this problem...chirp became intermittent about 3 months ago and finally stopped chirping altogether. He is living with it for now.

damn...no chirp...that sucks...the chirp gives me a sense of security...what's even worse is that the alarm won't even sound...what's the point in having an alarm if it doesn't make noise when it's tripped...

Did you ever get this rusted wire problem fixed?

I recently purchased and self-installed an OEM security system on my 2003 Impreza TS, and everything works except the system uses the main horn for all notifications rather than the security horn.

The wire that goes to the security horn was heavily corroded when I installed it, and I tried to clean it up; but I don't know if this is what is causing the problem.

Is this more likely a horn relay issue (since it is using the main horn?) or could it possibly need to be cleaned more thoroughly?

Thanks,
Ben
