Post Should I skip this autocross until I get new tires?

Today I noticed that my passenger front tire is really worn, much more than my driver front tire. I'm pretty sure it's not an alignment problem because there are 4 left turns on my way home that I take regularly at speed. Right now I'm doubting whether this tire can handle another autocross this Sunday. Can I just rotate my tires so that the worn tire is in the rear and autocross it like that? What are your suggestions?

Oh, buying new tires is out of the question untill I have enough money to buy 16" alloys + tires. Right now, I'm running on 15" steels with el-cheapo generic tires, curtesey of the previous owner.

it sounds like an alignment issue to me. if the camber or toe is out on that wheel, it would wear quick. what is the wear pattern? is it uniform or on one side? is the tread feathered? did you check the tire pressure? do you feel any vibrations when you drive?

i can't really be the judge since i haven't seen the tire. my $.02 says to race, but i'm an auto-x junkie. if its not bald then it should be ok. and if its not, the guys doing tech should notice it.

I chunked my Nexus tires in the front after the Evolution autox school and rotated them to the back and autox'd on them to just before Nationals. They did fine for the rest of the year. I would rotate them to the back and autox on them. The other thing is to flip the tires on the rim so the outside chunked area is on the inside. What tires are you on?

Ah, my fault. It's next Sunday. I get so excited when one of these come up. Good thing you pointed it out Andres, I would've showed up all ready to race.

Gary, I'm running some cheapo generic tire. The brand is called "Viper". I think. That's what it says on the side wall. The previous owner had them put on before he sold the car just so he can say "new tires" in the ad. The first time I autoXed it, some guy said it showed some signs of melting. It wasn't wearing, it was tearing, there are chunks of rubber tread missing.

Hey Andres, think you could let me borrow your 18" rims w/ Parada's? Hehe...we could switch them back and forth on our cars in between runs. hahahha....

I have a problem like that to. I have the bridgeston re 730s and the outside of the tread is worn really bad. THey have 5 auto-x on them and it shows. But when I take the rim off, the other side looks good...so should I just have the tires switched ?? I am kinda worried, and have not auto-xed because of it. What do u guys think?

I noticed heavy wear on the outside of my tires when I autoxed with the stock suspension. The tires seem to wear really evenly now with my GC/AGX setup and autox-friendly alignment.

What are the "autoX-friendly" alignment settings for a Impreza L?
