Question FXT MT Reverse Gear

Does anyone else have a problem of shifting into reverse gear?

I do come to a complete stop before changing, yet it usually requires that I disengage the clutch then re-engage it a couple of times before it will go in.

My FXT has 9000miles, but has been this way since I first had it. I brought it with 1000miles on the clock.

It doesn't do this all the time ... maybe 7/10.

It's normal. Reverse is straight cut with no syncros so it occasionally isn't lined up correctly (the dogs are not lined up) so it won't go in. Just go back to neutral let the clutch out for a second then try again (with the clutch in of course). Don't force it.

Speaking of forcing it, FYI next time try the search function up top as this question has been answered many times. Not mad, just letting you know. Plus it's probably faster for the answer.

I had the same problem, but going back into neutral did not work. I have to roll forward about 1 inch and then it goes into reverse nice.

That's usually what I do as well. Sometimes bliping the throtle helps as well.

Thanks guys. I usually put it into neutral, release and re-engage clutch, then try again - but somethimes this doesn't work (even after multiple trys). I'll definitely give your solution a go.

Thanks again.
