Default Goodridge Lines STi: Made wrong?

Hi,

I just got a a set of Goodridge Brake lines for the STi and I think they are made wrong?

On the fronts where they mount to the strut it seems like the braket is on backwards? If somone has these can they take a picture of the strut where the line is mounted?

Thanks,

Brian

What kind of lines are they, G-Stop or motorsport series? Motorsport series has the clear plastic sheathing on the outside.

I recently purchased a set of motorsport series for my WRX and they didn't even have the bracket for the bolt that holds it to the strut. Instead they had a block like the rear lines do that gets held in by a spring clamp. I have come to believe that the motorsport series weren't even made for our American cars, they were probably made for an overseas model.

If they were the G-Stop lines, then you probable got the wrong ones. Here is a picture of the bracket on a WRX:

My front brake lines had this bracket instead:

And here is a picture of the front brake line installed on a WRX, don't know if it is the same for an STI or not:

Thanks to Scoobymods for the pictures. And you can follow this link for instructions on how to change the lines on a WRX.

skyhawk,

I have the motorsport ones (coated) and the bracket looks like the one in the picture you sent but its backwards (turned 180) to the one in the picture?

I know I have the banjo on right of the bracket must be on backwards. The washer thats welded on the brake line bracket as shown in the pic is facing the strut. When screwed in this makes the bracket at a slight angle.

I think I need to get them repalced. I got them from Z1 performace. I'll call them on monday.

Thanks,

Brian

PS. I can't believe yours didn't come with similar mounts?

That's where I got mine too. I can't believe they sell these brake lines that don't fit our cars. I have been PM'ing them, talking to Adam, and he told me to ziptie the line in place. Can you believe he told me to do that. I was so mad. I have been PM'ing him for over a week and he still hasn't told me how to send them back to get my money back. They have definately lost my business forever. Please, if anybody is thinking of getting the motorsports lines, DON'T, save yourself alot of heartaches. They don't fit our cars. If I spend the money for something, it should fit my car without being jerry rigged. Enough venting for now. Your better off getting your money back bcristea, and getting the G-Stop lines. Alot of people have installed those lines with no problems, maybe because they are made for our cars. Goodluck.

skyhawk,

I agree, I'll call and see what they say.

It would be hard for them to know if the bracket was on backwards but they should not give me any problems returning them.

I'm suprised that they have not called you back or told you to zip tie them! ***!

I'll let you know what happens.
