Exhaust: Stock

Are there any bolt-on catback systems for the 02 Outback/2.5RS? Do I have to get a custom pipe fabricated at a muffler shop? I will if I have to, but would rather get a quality set-up the first time.

I have searched and emailed a lot of people, but no one responds.

I posted another thread on the newbie page, and there are a lot of viewings, but no replies.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you most likely didnt get an answer because this question is very simple to answer. first you need to know the year of your outback and 2.5rs, then you can find the body style code which sometimes helps to find the right exhaust (ex. GC8 or GDB for the RS). then you look on online stores and find an exhaust for the year or body style you have. keep in mind that the outback and the rs will have different exhausts.

Im not sure if the OBS shares the same exhaust as the 2.5 (2002 im assuming)

If so then, you can buy a exhaust that fit an older 2.5 98-01 and it will mate fine, you will have to relocate one exhaust hanger tho. Or you can buy a cobb (and there is one more) exhaust that has the hangers already lined up for the 02 and up

Talking

Thanks for all of your info!!!

I also rec'd an email from a guy that bought the Greddy EVO for his MY02 2.5RS and he said the same thing.

"Its completly bolt on. From the cat back so there is nothing to mess with
there. The one (cat-back) I got was for a rs up to Model year 2001. The only thing that is different is the rear hanger which you must either bend or cut off like i did and re-weld at a different angle. Its super simple. But everything is
completly bolt on. I love the Greddy Evo."

I have yet to buy the exhaust, but plan on getting it within the next few months.

I've got a borla from an 93-01 impreza...one hangar needed to be "adjusted" but it sounds great...have a sound clip if someone would host it...

The mods I have are Cobb CAI, borla headers and cat-back! And I love it!!

SO in all this info, and sorry it has to be explained again, is that a cb exhaust from an 99-01 rs will fit an 02 rs? With some minor adjustment? I have been shopping around and it seems to be difficult for me to find the one for mine.
