Unhappy Sad but true: spy pics are for real

Sorry to bring up this topic again, but ...

We had confirmation from a source who should be in the know that the spy pics from Switserland (blue car, appeared in Dutch Autovisie mag) are definetely the real thing ...

I realize that with a total of 0 posts I'm not exactly a thrustworthy or known source ... so let me introduce myself: I am one of the co-founders (and webadmins) of the Belgian Subaru club.

Visit us if you'd like to verify at http://go.to/subaruimprezarijders

Let me finish by saying that the new Impreza brochure pics - to be used around the world - were taken in Switserland.

I don't care . At first, I didn't think the car looked good, but didn't over-react to its looks like alot of people here did. I also stated at first, that I would still like to buy this car in it's 2nd year or so (i.e. substance over style). But now, the looks are growing on me, and dare I say it, I think it looks good.

It doesn't look like anything else on the road. The indentation in the hood adds more to the uniqueness. The flowing 'roundness' in the hood to meet the round headlights remind me of the older 911's.

Call me crazy, but I'm starting to like it!

Noooooo! But our cars now look soooo much better!

I'm thinking of buying the engine if that's possible. Heck, if the Civics can do it, I will too!

WRT the blue dock pics...
I wish the guy had of taken a shot or two of the car behind it. It looks like it's silver, my favourite colour. I think that the lines in the car would look sweet in silver. Photoshop anyone?

Yes, lots o' time on my hands today. Just got back from tanning my ass at the lake for a week. Motivation wayyyyyyy down at the office today. 2 Much info???

OK, just to be sure we're all talking about the same pictures here:

They look a lot like the "dock" pics BTW.

Thumbs up

Wow, I think the pics from the Japanese dock were just taken at BAD angles with a weird camera lens or something. The pictures from the Dutch Autovisie magazine of the car in Switzerland looks much better!

Go to EvilBevel's web site, go to the "MORE IMPREZA WRX PICTURES" link, then pick the Autovisie one.

Not as bad as the dock pictures IMHO. I wouldn't mind parking one in my drive way.

Cheers,
Trey

I wouldn't either. The front isn't quite as aggressive as the RS now, but the side and rear looks nice, and if it has all the engine and drive train goodies it's supposed to, I'll be lining up for mine.

Ok, you know... I think I'm starting to like those big lights on the front end... somehow it just fits in those pics. And the car looks aggressive as hell in that other shot.

I am sure that when this comes to the US, it will have a wing - no "performance" car will go without here, though I suspect it will be more like the sedan than the coupe.

The rest I am perfectly okay with - oval lights are on plenty of other cars that are not neons - like the C class Mercs, for example.

The dock photos, though, made the front look like that Casablanca thing that was making the rounds - hope it was simply a flared lens or something.

Sorry man, I like ours better. They tried to copy the Mercedes Benz redesign, and I thought Mercedes messed up their design when they went to those round headlights. I think I'll stick to mine.

hehe, my plan? Track the '02 crash bin, and look for a quality engine/drivetrain/brakes/whatever else is cool on the new car, and fit it on my current BRP '00 baby.

The lights just dont work for me at all.

It all just looks out of prepaution, i am trying but i just dont like it.

Sweet, the car looks good in these pics.

I wish whoever scanned this would scan that Autocar article. I have been wishing for days that someone would would give us some scans with accurate color and no moire patterns. (You can see a huge color difference between the little head-on picture that was on whatcar.com and the full-sized scans)

The front still is kinda strange looking. It will be out in Japan for a while before we get it so it's also possible they do some tweaks to the design after they get some feedback from the public. I think that happened with the new Cougar when they released it. They changed the lights a little. The sides are nice and I always thought the profile was great. But that rear for some reason reminds me of the Grand Am and the front....Oh well. There will always be aftermarket headlight mods if it doesn't change. Once you fall in love with a design, like this current model, it's always hard to imagine anything else being as good. I hope all those Honda fans think it's ugly cause I don't want to see any riced up Imprezas any time soon. (this sentence was only intended to insult those honda fans who do rice up their cars.
