i have already thought about that...but i dont particularly like the new impreza's styling..of course i would love the turbo, but the styling hasnt done it for me yet...my parents arent paying for the car, but are letting me have the money for a trade in...i currently drive my mothers old car ( 96 camry LE) and will get the money from that trade in or from a private sale...

thanks,
john

well if you like the car that much
GET IT.... you will enjoy it.
about getting it stolen... get full coverage on the insurance.
as for door ding and little scratches..
you got to live with it. you won't be the only one if this make you feel better.
its going to happen sooner or later.
just go the a shop every year to get some paintless dent removal.
or just park a bit far away where there is less cars and walk to your class.
or you can just keep it in your garage and look at it everyday.

The purchase of a new car will always be one of the worst investments of your life at any age. Next to Waverunners,Boats and motorcycles, cars have the worst amount of devauluation upon driving off the lot.It seems that no matter how careful you are, some A-Hole is going to ding your door.It is just a matter time.If that isn't bad enough, the biggest offender of damage to your new car will be YOU.Somewhere along the way you will take a couple of stupid pills and scrape your rims,or the bottom of your front bumper on just about anything,or like me ,back into something and ding the corner of the back qtr.panel in just the right spot that its going to take $500 worth of body work. How long you can put this damage off is the test.Cars get stolen, scratched and dented everywhere. In good neighborhoods and bad.The question you will have to ask yourself is: Am I willing to suffer the costs, monetarily and emotionally, of having a car I really enjoy at whatever the price, and can I afford it?

Dont do it! Not during college, anyway. If you get an Impreza, it will become an obsession! It will suck every minute of your time away! You will browse I-club during all your classes! Then you will go back to your dorm, break out the tools, and start disassembling the car to put something new on it that yields another 3-4 horsepower or .02g !! It took every ounce of willpower to hold off on buying one until I graduated and got a full-time job. However, now I have no homework and plenty of money. Now the fun begins.
