Post Sorry, but about those pics(just check it out)

I didn't want to do this, but there are so many of these posts that I didn't know where to write this. Does anybody notice that the pole on the passenger side of the car looks like it's in two different spots in the pictures. In one picture, it's casting a shadow on the front, and in another a reflection on the back. Depending on the position of the sun, this is possible, but it just doesn't seem right. The pole seems like it is too far towards the front of the car to have a reflection on the back of the car. So not only is the reflection in a weird place, but it really looks like the car was moved from one pic to the next. Also if you look through the back of the car it looks like there is a sticker on the passenger side of the windshield. When you look at the windshield from the front, there is a weird square towards the left. But, who really cares anyway? We'll see soon enough.

Does anyone notice that in the reflection on the trunk of the silver car, it appears that it doesn't have a hood scoop?

I think it's funny that we hate this car so much, that we're spending way to much time trying to find every little flaw and prove these pics are flake. If these are fake, then what about these:

I'm not sure why they have a carbon fiber texture, but I haven't seen them anywhere on this board, although I'm new here.
It does appear to be a Japanese/European version though, so who knows.

umm the red car has cosmetic differences tho. the rims, back badging, spoiler, but if you REALLY look at front bumper you will see the real differences tho. lack of brake vent, rounded off, etc. i dont know. I will wait til the show

Well the "carbon fiber texture" that the car has is due to the way the magazine printing process takes to being scanned. This is normal and can be fixed. If you scan some magazines this will happen and some scanners will automatically fix it.

Am I the only one that likes this possible new design? It has some basic styling flair unlike the current RS, which has dumpy-looking early-90's econobox styling with a bunch of bad-ass cosmetic modifications.

It doesn't have that mean, pissed off look to it, but the new car looks smoother & more European, kind of like the new Legacy.

Ridinlow,

I'm with ya! I'm glad so many people hate it! That just means less of them on the road to make it more unique... even if it's "ugly" unique in everybody else's eyes.

The are both (red pics and blue Dock pics) are real. Subaru let us and the rest of the world down. They don't care as long as it does well in rally racing. Subaru doesn't need this car to sell well, when have they ever advertised the RS? Only once or twice to the best of my knowledge. They (Subaru) makes their money in the US off of the outback. Anything else is just a bonus. Sorry folks, the new Impreza is a ***** car. Let me respell that so the software doesn't overwrite me, Poossycar. Sorry!

There's another thing that happens when no one likes a car. They stop producing them and start sending over more Suv's because that's what us Americans want right. I sure hope the power is enough to attract new buyers so subaru starts sending us other cool stuff like the turbo Forester and the B4 cause I am not exactly thrilled about the new wrx.

both the pics are real, the vents can be discerned if you lighten the picture some, they are a little more to the side than on the RS. and are smaller. The pictures of the blue car are the same way just lighten them and you can see the tires, and vents better. and if you zoom in you can notice the subaru emblem on the front of the silver one as well as the vents. If the people wanted to try to doctor the pictures as much as some of you think, wouldn't they have done a much better job with the black window spot on the blue car.

by the way you anyone else think that this should be a temporary forum, on rumors and such. just a thought, there seems to be a lot of seperate topics on the same thing here.

I don't doubt that they are the real thing. Looking back at the disguised pics, they are a perfect match, right down to the sheets hiding the new Porsche-like headlight "tubes" on the sides. (Which I think are pretty cool and are very distinctive.)

Look at the gas cap--the red pic above shows it well. See how it is "dented in" to match the new rear fender shape? Now look at the gas cap on those older disguised pics. The camouflage stops at the gas cap--and you can see that fender "dent" clearly.

For what it's worth. I do like the new styling--I just hope the OB Sport still gets the scoop (with 25L engine I assume).

I'd really like to see the new wagon--I hope the indented rear styling is still there. The wagon seems to be shown (too small to see well) at the lower left here: http://drive.fairfax.com.au/content/...hics/28wrx.jpg

I really dont understand something. We all have been begging SOA for this car to come to the states. Now that we are about to get it we are whining about its looks. Ok some of the parts of this car appear sort of tacky to me too, but isnt the WRX supposed to be about performance? Oh well I guess I am just tired of all these pics, and rumors. The suspense is killin me!! (It dosent look that bad, the tail lights are going to take awhile for me to get used to though)

Hmmm so what a few people are saying is that this car is like a bad rash. It just seems to grow on you? Wonder how long until they redesign the car. After all if you ever saw the frist 2 WRX models they weren't much to look at either. I'd still rather have my 99RS or the B4.

I don;t know about these pics but the Blue ones are definitly photochoped.

These look very good and vrey real, but couple of things bother me. The headlights are a fair bit different than the blue car. Also I was wondering why the blue car has very noticable devisions in the clear part of the taillight and the red one doesn't.

Any car you haven't seen in person can easily take on a different look from different angles. Lights especially can catch the light differently. The red and the blue look identical to me, except that the "i" badge and RHD suggest the red is not a US model, while the blue may be. I use Photoshop all day every day and I see no signs of retouching EXCEPT that I am suspicious of the badging on the back of the blue one. Perhaps somebody stuck a WRX logo on over some other model (with no spoiler), and added the word Subaru which the red one lacks. They clearly had the image in Pshop, since they blanked out the window sticker--perhaps to hide identification that could get someone in trouble. But as far as basic body shape, all photos seem to agree.

Look how far up the headlights protrude in the middle (side-view) pic--not really as Neon-like as you would think at first, more like an older Porsche but less extreme. Looks more agressive (and retro) in that view.

What I didn't like at first glance was the very flat, boring hood between the light tubes--with no side vents it looked very plain, and the scoop seemed out of place. But actually there is an indented area on the hood that I think makes it all look better. See the hood in the top view? There is a dark area around the scoop that almost seems like a reflection of the windshield. But it isn't, it's a sunken area--sort of like the previous Legacy only it doesn't go all the way to the front. If you look at the front end in the blue photos, you can see the edge of the same feature. In person this shape would be clearly visible, and makes a difference to me--less cute and more agressive. It goes well with the new scoop, that also tapers to the front, widening toward the hood.

I also like the way the nose/grille pushes forward between the lights--the car isn't flat across the front. Look at the side view in blue to see this clearly. Taken all together--not very Neon once you get past the first glance. The rear end looks great to me--actually more agressive than the current model.

Most people don't like change, but after 10 years I would hope for a big change. Too bad it couldn't have been a gradual evolution every 3-5 years, but I think Subaru is smart to style the car so distinctively. Even someone who knows nothing about cars, once they see one '02 Impreza will be able to spot them. Good for brand recognition. How many US people even after all these years could identify an Impreza--the non-scooped styles--with the badges removed? Except in certain regions, very few I would think. I like the "old" style, but it is a bit generic.

So, how about some spy pics of the 5-door (could be the most striking hatchback seen in a long time) and the interior?

I'd have to agree with EM. This car will look a lot dif in person. I doubt the photos where touched much at all. If you look at the car you do see some Porcheesque hints, headlights, wheell arches, mini whaletail. The more pics I see the better it looks. Red is not a good color for this car (IMHO never was) but the red pics look better. I think the other pics were with short lense making then a little distorted.

Like somebody else said in another post, it is totally natural for you guys to not like this. You don't want your <2 year old RS's to be obsolete. I remember way back when GM redid the fbody. All the IROC, GTA, Formula guys trashed the new body style and pledged to keep their cars forever. Then they gotused to seeing the new ones around and realized how much better the cars were and they came around (some did anyway).

I like the way this car looks. Everyone thinks my car is a bulked neon anyway, so who cares if the front end looks even more like a bulked neon.
