Default Side Marker Install

Hey Hey,

I'm gonna put in side marker lights sometime soon. But since I am cheap I do not want to order expensive parts from Japan and ship them on a slow expensive boat from asia. Instead, I want to go to my junkyard and pull some side markers off of a Z3 or another car that has them.

Is there any reason why these wouldn't work just as well with my car?

OK, I would like to see people saying "Yeah, that will work" as well as the people who claim "nope, won't work".

I want the number of replies to equal the number of views! Or at least have a handful of people reply.

Thanks!

O.k., It should work.
Try looking for the lights from a Mitsubishi Outlander (wife has one). THey are very similar to the JDM marker lights on the Subaru, and I believe they only cost like $15 a piece.

you are talking about the fender markers rights?

as long as you have the bulb terminal and some wire...it should work with any side marker. you will still have to drill a hole to mount it. then you have to wire to the stock blinker..no problems there...

Thanks for the input guys.

I like the outlander markers, which are clear instead of yellow. Problem is that the dealer in town wants $25 each. For that money I can buy from Japan. The quest continues.

I wanted to buy some cheap ones off of a wrecked car. I called the VW place and they said they have a bunch of BMWs too. In this case, a bunch means two or three busted old BMWs from the 70s.

I might be ordering from mitsubishiparts.net instead.

You can make the sidemarkers from any make of car work. FYI all the OEM side markers snap in and the hole has to be accurate, if you get them from a wrecker make a template of the hole in the fender of the car that they come off.

If you phug this up you will be s#*t out of luck.

FYI The Outlander side marker lamp number is MR522027.
One of the local dealers wants $24 for each lamp assy, the other one wants $34. Mitsubishiparts.net wants about $15 and says that the suggested price is $20.

Guess who I will be buying from?

Also, the Lancer shares this part.

I bought sidemarkers that fit the new 04 Mercury Mountaineers. I think I paid about $30 for both of them at the Ford dealer. They are the perfect size, very similar to the overseas WRX sidemarkers.

And they would be orange, not clear like the ones I got (and the ones on the Lancer and Outlander). The clear JDM ones (which are actually lightly smoked) only come with the matching front fender lights, and sell for around $130-$160. Don't worry, I already did my homework on the sidemarker subject.

Ok, you didnít do you homework, you get an F+
You CAN get the JDM clear (or they come in many colors) from www.japanparts.com they all come in Subaru parts bags from Subaru. Factory Subaru parts. SAA = Subaru auto accessories. if you want the smoke ones, then its like 50 bucks to your door, (and you dont have to buy the combo either) and it should arrive with in a week and a half.
Thanks
Shane
