Post OT : does NT 4.0 supports USB and AGP?

That's pretty much the question. If so which service pack? Thanks.

My work runs NT boxes with sp5 and i know for a fact that we can't use USB devices or any software requiring DirectX, but as far as the AGP issue is concerned, I honestly don't know!

Yeah, you can use AGP cards on them, they just have AGP-specific drivers for your card under NT.

You can't use USB at all, if you need it go to Win2K or Win98SE.

Despite popular belief, you CAN use DirectX under NT (albeit limitedly) since it comes with DirectX 3, and there is actually a hack out there to let you put the DirectX 5 drivers in their place. You get some odd errors with some games, though, even if you have DX5 installed (ie: it checks for NT rather then DX5).

Gambit, After you install NT4, install SP3 or higher. I install in this crazy order: NT4, SP3, IE4 to turn on Active Desktop, SP6a, IE5, 128bit support. No, actually I got sick of that and just install Win00. Much less time to install than all that nonsense. See:Q174567 - AGP Video Support for Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 and Q196661 - Windows NT 4.0 Does Not Support Universal Serial Bus.

Active Desktop? Why the hell do people use that crap? All it does is suck RAM.

Personally I was one of those freaks that downloaded every beta OS when I was running Win95, as soon as Memphis had IE4 integrated, forget it. I went back to 95 and didn't look back until 98SE (which is still slow but a little less buggy then 98). Waiting for Millenium to come out to try that, otherwise I'm off to Linux since I don't do newsgroup postings like I used to...

Stupid little things, like the Quick Launch toolbar(s), the address bar in NT Explorer to copy and paste the silly pathname. Hmm, other than that, nothing. Definitely not the single-click stuff, view page as website, just don't like 'em. I agree it's a RAM pig.. kinda like Win00. Windoze is what is.. and it isn't Unix (FreeBSD my dialect).
