Just wondering, and please forgive me if I missed an earlier discussion, if anyone was planning to go to the Summer Showdown at Griffiss AFB/ Griffis Technology Park this June 24-25?
If it's "news" to you, their web site has the complete description at www.showdown2k.com . Although a friend of mine (Dale Seeley) is one of the promoters, I still think I'm safe saying it looks like a good time. ![]() Any two day event where the point is both auto-x AND a car show with plenty of modified street cars like ours, I'd be going even if it weren't just 2 hours away. ![]() FWIW- I'll be there for the autocross event(and gambling @ Turning Stone Casino at night). -Scott

Its not too far from me (Ithaca) so I am sure I'll be up one of the days. I haven't really looked into it that much or really made plans, but I'll be there. I mentioned it a long time ago though and thoguht there wasn a more serious event that was going to conflict with it or something, anyone know what it might have been?

![]() I've always wanted to try concrete. Is it more slippy or grippy? Pete |

Race on concrete? It's a blast at Griffiss: Plenty of grip. Generally speaking that kind of surface chews up rubber, but Griffiss is comparatively kind on tires compared to other concrete sites. FWIW- Anyone who hasn't already found tire pressures they like for concrete, I usually add a couple lbs to the normal ones just to be safe.
The best part about the site is the wide open spaces for the course. Not that the course designer CAN'T make it tight, but at least there is plenty of room to play with. ![]() -Scott [This message has been edited by Molez93 (edited May 09, 2000).] |
